@__phantomderp @mattgodbolt I've also found Ghidra super helpful during optimization. It seems counterintuitive but I'm not great at reading assembly and the pseudo-C is a lot closer to the metal than the original, pretty C++ source.

@thegrayfruit the whole reason they were invented was to bump sales on PSN/XBL/Steam. friend beating your "achievement score?" better buy more games! achievement popups at inopportune times do let us experience the equivalent of someone's phone going off in a theater though

@AoiWorship @MiniOmegaKing This is exactly the case for PS1, at least. A filesystem on a hard drive for example is designed to use as much or as little space as it's given, but the PS1 memory card file system is hard fixed to always use exactly 128KiB, no more or less.

@EliasDaler you brought up Papers Please, and that's a good point of contrast. PP presents a world where every choice is morally ambiguous with no "correct" answer.adding UT-like "bonus endings" would be contrary to its goal. that doesn't mean either game is bad, they just have different PoV
