@DiscussingFilm The original movie has 30% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics but 76% from audiences. So it might suck but I'd wait for audience scores on this one.

@indiehamlet Is this recent? I think Rebecca Ferguson say something about a Dune 3 re-shoot in Iceland this Spring?

@JayT_Film Great list, made me want a rewatch of American Psycho, CMBYN, Zodiac, Prestige & Ladybird. Little Women is an annual Xmas watch in this house. I think Pride & Prejudice was made by people who either hadn't read or didn't really like the book but I know many people love it.

@echoesfilmz The Oscar's sometimes nominate mid movies & fail to nominate what come to be seen as 'classics'..who can say how this one will be viewed. Would be nice to still have something like the MTV movie awards voted for by the public.

@JohnHarris8725 @Favwontmiss I live by the sea, so checked the sea rise thing years ago. Climate predictions say it'll be more of a 22nd century issue. The superstorms, heatwaves, wildfires, droughts, floods, agricultural disruption & wars caused by water / food shortages will get us way before sea rise.

@1goodtern El Nino could cause really bad winter storms & flooding in the UK. Floods can certainly cause local disruptions to food supply chains. But I'd agree really poor harvests, Russia & a bad flu/COVID season are equally good reasons to stockpile some emergency food.

@magnanimadany Yes it's so hypocritical Michael B Jordan publically defended & sided with Jonathan Majors over his proven DV abuse & that's ok because they like him, while others they don't like should get cancelled for liking another actors performance.

@Ceilidhann I guess pre-teen / teen hysteria over a celeb crush is nothing new. Maybe seems worse now because social media amplifies it? Though even as a young teen I never cared that much what my fave celebs did so long as they kept making music/films I liked.

@dunemovie is there a cinema re-release of Dune 1 & 2 planned ahead of Dune 3?

@Damndude88 @LT__Media @Tom604506945 @TheCineprism We say movies break even at 2.5x production budget to allow for average marketing costs. So 2.5x Dune production budget is likely around $500m. So even if marketing was way more than an average movie it likely won't need more than $600 million to break even.

@yawdjinx @shrivardhan7 @pookie_770 Timothee Chalamet had 2 movies in 2024, 1 movie in 2025 & is only in 1 movie in 2026. Yet I still keep seeing people (including you) saying he's being cast in everything. This is clearly from the crowd who watch 4 movies a year.

@justicewatchuk I wish I was more shocked by another story of the police failing to protect women. Maybe police officers should have to run every decision they make on stalking, harassment and domestic violence past a committee of mothers whose daughters they failed.

@MalazofWesteros @ghaneeemah I'm sure Denis said he was leaving it open for another director to make more Dune movies. So I'd assume the end of the movie will leave the main players close enough to where they were at the end of Messiah. There's not time for him to cover Messiah & CoD in one film.

@TeslaStockTK @mk_r1N @ericmac20 @DanielRPK Villeneuve isn't making more, he only ever wanted to do a trilogy. Dune 1 & 2 were profitable, 3 cost around $200m so unless it's Morbius bad it'll turn a profit. They've sold tickets already so it's not moving. It'll be fine, people can see more than one movie over the holidays.

@MemeOfSteel_ It would have to be worse than Madam Webb to lose that much. Dune has a built in audience who liked the first 2 films & want to see the conclusion but it's still adult sci fi, it was never going to have the broad appeal to casual moviegoers of a family friendly Avengers movie.

@notevenrg And Michael B Jordan fully defended Jonathan Majors over his abuse & no-one cares. It's why the purity policing of art is pointless as if you really look into them most artists & celebs are pretty self absorbed & often kind of shitty people. Just enjoy the art you enjoy.

@girlonherb And Michael B Jordan fully defended Jonathan Majors over his abuse & no-one cares about that either. Tbh I have no issue separating the art from the artist. I can think Polanski should have been jailed but still watch his movies, he did some great work.

@DiscussingFish Glad this is fake. Unless he's desperate for cash I'm sure he can find something more interesting than yet another comic book movie. Some superhero films are decent but a lot of MCU / DCU is just dull. I'd genuinely rather he did Wonka 2 at least that kids film was amusing.
