These moves reverse fast because there's no new capital entering the market, just forced covering. For example, if BTC pumps 5% in 2 hours, everyone would think it is bullish. But if you check OI and it has dropped 10% then that's not new longs entering the market. That's shorts being liquidated. Once covering finishes and there are no buyers left, price will start dumping, retracing the whole move. Now lets say that BTC dumps 5% with OI dropping. That's longs being liquidated, not real selling. Once liquidations finish, price will bounce because there's no real selling pressure. You can use Coinglass Open Interest chart to compare OI change to price change on the same timeframe. Most people see a 5% pump and buy. Smart money checks OI first. If OI is falling, they will fade the move.
