Welcome back from the @AMPLIFY_Girls Partner Peer Learning Exchange! It was an inspiring journey of learning, connection, and collaboration as partners visited schools and communities in Bukedea District to learn more about our Adolescent Girls and Boy Champions Programs.

The 2 Gen Model recognizes that investing in caregivers is also an investment in children. Through the Conditional Cash Based Intervention, caregivers will receive a timely boost to strengthen their Income Generating Activities and improve household stability. Day 1 | Learning from impact in action. Our journey in Bukedea started with a visit to Girl Up Uganda offices, where we gained deeper insights into their community driven approach to empowering adolescent girls and fostering supportive environments for young people to thrive. We then visited four schools where the Adolescent Girls and Boys Program is implemented, engaging students, teachers and parents to understand the program through a true 360° lens. Successful ECCD Stakeholders Training Held Yesterday! On 30 June 2026, Kabubbu Development Project @KabubbuP and ACODEV @ACODEVU, under LCA-Uganda, successfully organized a comprehensive training for stakeholders on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), in partnership with Kampala Capital City Authority, under the 2-Gen Approach to ECCD. The training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to support the holistic development of children aged 0–5 years, covering health, nutrition, protection, education, and psychosocial well-being. Participants included: Nutrition Officers, VHTs, Para-social Workers, Probation Officers, Mothers from approved homes, School Inspectors, ECCD Centre Coordinators & Heads, Community Development Officers (CDOs), Youth Officers, Agribusiness Officers, and Child Protection Unit (from Uganda Police) The training took place at Makindye Division Headquarters. This collaborative effort marks an important step toward strengthening integrated support systems for young children in our communities. We are grateful for the technical support from @Mglsd_UG, & @KCCAUG, for the continuous support and coordination of the 2-Gen Model project. Deep-diving into community realities at our ongoing 2-Gen Model training at @KCCAUG Nakawa Division Hall! Led by Rogers Golooba @GoloobaRogers, a Senior Probation and Welfare Officer from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (@Mglsd_UG ), stakeholders explored two critical questions that shape the well-being of Uganda's youngest citizens: 1️⃣ What challenges affecting children in your area are linked to caregiver well-being? Overcrowded Living Spaces: In areas like Kisenyi, shared bed spaces create immense parenting and privacy challenges for couples raising children. Time Poverty & Child Neglect: In Nakawa (Banda), parents working extreme overtime hours lack time for their children, leading to unintended neglect. Child Labour: An increase in young girls being employed prematurely as domestic housemaids. Substance Abuse: High rates of alcoholism and drug abuse directly disrupting household stability. 2️⃣ What existing community services can support our 2-Gen approach? Health & Outreach: Continuous home visits to vulnerable households and referral systems driven by Village Health Teams (VHTs). Economic Empowerment: Government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) boosting household incomes. Family Support: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) community sessions in Nakawa helping families mend relationships. Bridging Grassroots Insights with National Strategy 🇺🇬 Every effort under the Two-Generation (2-Gen) model directly aligns with Uganda’s national priorities, including National Development Plan IV, the National Integrated ECD Policy, the National ECCE Policy 2026, and National Parenting Guidelines. By leveraging existing national livelihood programs —like PDM, SAGE, UWEP/YLP, Emyooga, and specialized funding for children with disabilities under 5 (Children with disability benefits), we are building a seamless ecosystem of care. #2GenApproach #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #LCAUganda
