@charliermarsh I have an allergy to clever naming schemes. Did you ever have to deal with deployments that were named by geological eras predating the Mesozoic, in reverse order? One time was too many.

@willmcgugan they do sell fish and chips in the US and they do label it "Fish and Chips". But it can only be found at bars; there are no standalone shops.

The US 250th is coming up next week. Maybe I'll say something about that then. But to put that event into historical context: 100 years before that in 1683 was The Siege of Vienna. 150,000 Ottoman Janissaries had the city surrounded. 10,000 Polish Hussars smashed right into them.

rules of thumb to tuck away for later: a cubic foot of rock is ~150lbs and a cubic foot of metal is ~500lbs. Not exact numbers, but if you just want to know "can I pick that up?" or "will that break all the bones in my foot when I drop it?" 150/500 will do.

@jafo a small notion in my favor is that the house pre-dates electricity. I assume that none of the lines are stapled because stapling is a thing you do when putting up a stick frame with drywall; that ain't what we got.

a small bit of information you probably couldn't use: a 300ft CAT6 cable works 20% better than two 150 cables terminated and connected together F-F. Three sections together (so two dumb, unpowered F-F couplers) works 20% worse than that.
