We captured this beautiful moment as Egejurum Onyedikachi and Don-Anele Munachimso arrived at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, yesterday to a true hero's welcome. These are not football stars. They are not musicians. They are not politicians. They are children. Children who became the world's best in Mathematics in the Primary and Senior categories. Don-Anele Munachimso is also the world's best in Science. The last literary figures from the South East to receive this kind of heroic public welcome were Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Watching our brightest young minds being celebrated like national heroes gives me hope. For too long, we have celebrated almost everything except academic excellence. That is beginning to change. Education is reclaiming its rightful place in our society, and a generation of children is growing up believing that knowledge, hard work and excellence deserve standing ovations too. This is bigger than two children. This is the beginning of a movement.

An Igbo chief asked his Hausa security guard to bring his family from the north to live with him in the East. He gave them a bungalow in his compound with every amenities in it for free. He didn't stop there, he went ahead to train the 3 children of his security guard from primary to university level. After listening to this interview, i can authoritatively say that the Igbos don't hold grudges over any tribe, region or religion. It's just that some regions and individuals refused to heal and move on, 56 years after the civil war.

Mark their faces and remember their names: Chimdiebube Onwubiko, Egejurum Onyedikachi Ethan, and Don Anele Munachimso. They will all be global superstars. You wonder what’s next after the Olympiad? The show is about to begin. You will follow their live journey to greatness. We will be introducing an Education Hall of Fame, and they will be inducted. This team will travel to several countries for competitions, and we will all enjoy the journey. New outstanding students will join them, while those who are going to university will become exco members. Each and every one of them will get into an Ivy League university in the US or top universities in the UK or Europe. This is the time for education to take its place in our society.

I schooled with students from India, China and Philippines here in Nigeria. They usually come first in the class. Stella Chinelo Emelife however went to meet them in their country and showed them the stuff we are made of. 1. She was celebrated for breaking a century-old academic record at the University of Mysore, India. 2. She became the first student in the university's history to graduate with 20 gold medals and five cash prize awards in her master's programme in Chemistry.convocation - the maximum number of gold medals ever awarded to a single student, and the first time for an international/foreign student. 3. She graduated as the Best MSc Chemistry student with a distinction (reported as about 92.6%.) 4. She was also recognized for receiving the Ed and Julia Hodges Memorial Scholarship Award at the University of North Texas for her academic and research accomplishments in Chemistry. Don't take us for granted. We are too much!

Don Anele Munachimso won 2 gold medals yesterday at the International STEM Olympiad. He is currently the world’s best in Maths and Sciences. He is also the best in IGCSE in Nigeria. What a brilliant youngster!

Educare received this special recognition from the International STEM Olympiad, Rome. We will continue to build the right technology that powers education and also support our children to shine on global stages.

I just came from Campus where I went to visit my daughter. I owe her admission to God and the effort of one man, Alex Onyia. He challenged JAMB for failing students from Lagos and Southeastern States. Fortunately, JAMB admitted their error and exams were rewritten. My daughter who had previously scored 179, later scored 299 which gave her straight admission for her chosen course of study. Alex Onyia organized the successful South East Maths Olympiad where three students Egejurum Onyedikachi, Onwubiko Chimdiebube and Don-Anele Munachimso emerged as champions. They won cash prizes in millions together with their teachers. Many corporate organizations were partners. The students are currently competing on a global stage at the International STEM Olympiad Grand Finale happening in Rome from July 2nd - 8th. This is not the effort of the Federal Government of Nigeria or a State Government or Local Government. It is the effort of just one man with support from the citizenry - Alex Onyia!

I don't care from what region you come, as long as you are a Nigerian and you are doing well, I will use my platform to celebrate you. Check my timeline. @winexviv is doing well, I have been following him closely. The allegation that he dropped a Yoruba person from Enugu to pick his kinsmen is a fallacy and we don't need that distraction. I followed the Olympiad closely. He has made it very clear that as long as you are schooling in the South East and you qualify, you will be celebrated regardless of your ethnicity. Alex Onyia should inspire us all to do the same things in our regions across the country. The international community in Rome will not announce Southeast, rather it will announce Nigeria. A win for one is a win for all. Let that sink.

Today in Rome, I could see different government delegates from other countries, including China and Singapore, right here to support their students for International STEM Olympiad. No single government delegate from Nigeria. Is this how much our government abhors education?

I just got information that serious renovation and construction work has been going on at Eni Njoku and Alvan Ikoku hostels in UNN. All their toilets have now been replaced with brand new ones. This will be the first time in the last 25 years these hostels have been given the attention and care they require. I spoke earlier with the Vice Chancellor when he narrated his vision for the university. I appreciate him for this. Now our students can learn in a safe and conducive environment.
