Let's talk about Founder Transparency 👀 You can't talk the talk of a Web3 native if you're not in the trenches daily with your community. Whether that's trying new products, talking through the roadmap with your users, or just lamenting the state of the crypto market... being there in Discord or TG each day with the community is what keys you in to sentiment. I'd like to think of myself as a transparent founder. - I answer questions daily in our discord. - I respond to DMs and friend requests from community members. - The team and I do our best to keep consistent announcements rolling out even when we're heads-down building. + I have over 50,000 messages in our KOTE discord alone 👀 But there's always room for improvement. I also struggle a lot with knowing exactly which things to share and which things to keep under wraps for a more exciting marketing push. In the early days of KOTE we shared EVERYTHING... Which was fun, and a great way to get community feedback as we went, but we missed out on those big surprise drops that gets everyone excited. ⚖️ Nowadays we try to strike a balance. - Keep the community in the loop. - Try to answer as much as we can in the discord without giving anything too juicy away. - Hold some big announcements back to make sure our GTM contains enough hype and excitement A lot of Web3 users are here for the transparency. They want to be a part of the journey, to have input on the direction of the ship, and to look over your shoulder as you consult the compass. 🧭 But if I'm being honest, I think as this space grows, we might lose some of that magic... and that's ok. Not every team will benefit from this sort of transparency and community co-creation. Off the Grid operated in a Web2 manner and built the game behind closed doors for the most part before launching with a splashy and expensive marketing campaign. Sure, that works for Gunzilla, a company with 100's of millions of dollars to spend on development of a AAA title. But even then, it's not a sure thing. But imo the ones who lean into the Web3 ethos, especially the ones who build their ecosystem around it, I think they'll find they've unlocked something that ties deeply into what makes this third iteration of the internet so powerful... ✅ Web3 means ownership. ✅ Web3 means co-creation. ✅ Web3 means transparency. Then they try to mint out a 10k collection at .3 and give out early access as the only perk. Big Oof. Most corpos are here to extract, to pad their balance sheet and move on to the next quarter with an uptick in stock price and a bonus in their pocket so that they can summer on the Amalfi coast. Don't fall for it again. Indie gaming is eating the world, and Web3 is primed to be center stage. "But Flook, indie games are risky too! 99% of them fail in the first 3 years!" You're not wrong gentle reader. But that's why I'm here to say you can have your cake and eat it too. You can be early, to a new ecosystem, from indie game developers, who have already proven themselves over 3 years. 👀 Enter The Dream Ecosystem stage left. We're the best of both worlds baby. 🌎 We've been building in Web3 nonstop throughout the entire bear market... We have a highly engaged core community, 1,000 true fans, that will help onboard the next 100,000. Day 2 of bull-posting TDE (The Dream Ecosystem) until we launch. I know, I know, Web3 TCGs are almost a meme at this point... Let me tell you why 👇 - Card games are manageable for small studios with only a few devs. - Art and Animation costs can be pretty low compared to 3D games. - There's a very clear 1:1 on the type of audience that plays TCGs and collects cards/the audience that collects NFTs. - Monetization is baked into the loop. But we've seen a lot of Web3 TCGs come and go in the past 3 years. That's because they're deceptively complicated to get right. 🧐 Not only are you competing with heavyweights like MtG, Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc., but if you intend to keep players around past Day 1, you need a level of depth in strategy that isn't a barrier to retention. This is a hard tightrope to walk, especially so for devs that may be early on in their careers, or hired guns getting poor direction from Web3 founders with little experience. 🔫 (KOTE ran into this ourselves before we finally hired in-house developers and truly aligned on what it was we were building. But that's a story for another day.) OR you can choose to play your own game 👀 Don't make a mimic of an existing game. Don't just change the art style or tweak a few mechanics. Change the very essence of how players interact with and progress through your game. 🃏 Marvel Snap killed it on this front. - Vertical screen for mobile-first gameplay - A CONSTANT trickle of rewards with a focus on cosmetic monetization, instead of the typical pack-opening structure - 5 minute matches you can play at any time during the day That's new, that's fresh, and you can understand why it might be a successful new entrant in the genre based solely off of the 3 bullet points I shared above. So if you've stuck with me this far it's about to pay off. 🦠 BLIGHTFELL is something totally new, something that wasn't even possible a year ago. AI is baked into the core loop: - Players create their own cards; art, mechanics, names and all, right on their phones. - Seasonal content contains new lego pieces to build new cards + updates to the AI model to generate new styles of card art - Players earn new lego pieces through extraction style in-game YOINKS and battle pass rewards 🤯 Tell me you wouldn't play that. If you're a TCG fan you've probably already thought through how cool it would be to make your own cards for your favorite games, but the tools have never been given to you. It's eerily similar to things you've used before but with our own unique twists. - It's kind of like Midjourney, but your images are cohesive with the Blightfell art style. - It's kind of like deckbuilding for a TCG but you actually build each individual card, (stats, mechanics, art and all) before building a deck in-game. - It's kind of like ImgFlip but you get to make memes about all of your favorite Web3 IPs. ☑️ It lives right in Discord and Telegram. ☑️ It rewards you with Dream Points for daily activity. ☑️ It tracks your daily streak to give you even MORE Dream Points. It's Dream Protocol... and it's closer than you think.

Why Get Excited About Blightfell? Because, it's not just another Web3 Card Game. Hear me out. Incumbent digital card games like @PlayHearthstone MtG and Yu-Gi-Oh! have diehard fanbases, true. Pulling dedicated gamers away from their tried-and-true card games they've grown up with over a decade or two is not light work. In the Web2 world it's paid UA, squeezing every last drop of margin out of CAC. It's targeted creator activations and winning KOLs from these incumbents over to your side with lucrative paid promotion packages. It's corporate PvP. But if you've kept up with any of the back and forth between Web3 TCGs and Hearthstone you'll understand what I'm about to say. The model is broken. These so-called TCGs... They don't have TRADING! - You don't own your cards. - You don't own your skins. - You'll own nothing and you'll be happy 😃 You give your time and your money to megacorps who only care about bottom lines and squeeze more LTV out of you whenever they think they can get away with it. Now Blightfell lets you own your cards, lets you own your cosmetics, and takes a tiny sliver (2.5%) whenever you trade them with someone else. But that's not enough imo. Ownership is table stakes, we need to take "Why Web3?" to the next level. Besides Card Pack RNG, (which we can make more transparent with verifiable onchain randomness btw) the most complained about aspect of TCGs is BALANCING. "I spent $200 on card packs to pull that 1 Legendary I was hoping for, only for Blizzard to nerf it 1 week later. WTF?!" "Every season I have to start from scratch, and if I want to play competitively, I need to PAY competitively." "The cards this season are broken and the devs aren't doing anything about it!" Shhh, I know, it's ok. We're here. Bring it in 🫂 In Blightfell: - The Community Creates the Cards - The Community Balances the Cards - The Community Profit From the Cards In the coming months we're unveiling how all of this works. - How does AI put the power of creation into the hands of the players? - How does the meta of a TcG change when the players have a real sway over balancing? - How can we flip predatory gacha-like mechanics on their heads to reward users instead of board members?
