A recent project we wrapped up: a complete brand system + 30+ screen mobile app for a kids’ creativity platform - all designed in under 30 days. The goal was simple: Create an experience that feels playful, clear, and encouraging, while still being structured enough for parents and educators. Everything from the mascot, color system, iconography, typography, and UX flows was built from scratch to match one idea: make learning feel rewarding. This is a small look at some of the key screens - scoring, feedback, exercises, and the home dashboard. All unified under one visual language and one consistent UX logic.

Had a meeting with a SaaS founder whose product got more powerful every year, and harder to use every year. Here are the 9 things I told them about fixing the UX. 1. When a product feels overwhelming, the menu is usually the problem, not the features. Users don't bounce because you offer too much. They bounce because everything is shown to them at once. 2. A new user should get a great result without touching a single setting. Lead with the smart default. Hide the advanced controls behind an expandable section for the people who actually go looking for them. 3. Group by what the user is trying to do, not by what the feature technically is. Most messy products are organised around the team that built them, not the person using them. 4. Simplifying almost always adds a click somewhere. That trade is usually worth it. A little friction for the expert beats total confusion for the beginner who hasn't even paid yet. 5. Don't try to nail a layout in one shot. For the screens that matter I build 4 to 5 versions and iterate. The first idea is never the best one, and pretending it is just hides the problem. 6. Icons do more work than labels. If someone has to read and study every option to know what it does, you've already lost them. Let them understand the screen at a glance. 7. Show less by default. People use a small fraction of the options you give them. Surface the few they actually reach for, let them customise, and tuck the rest behind "see all." 8. The fastest way to find what's broken: open your own product as a complete beginner. If you can't figure it out without already knowing how it works, neither can a new user. 9. The best products win on UX, not animation. Fancy hover effects get you views on X. They don't make a confusing product easy to use. Sort the experience first, decorate it later. The pattern across all 9: None of it was about adding more. Every fix was about removing confusion. That's almost always where the next bit of growth in a product is hiding.
