TUESDAY is a critical election for Oklahoma City and it affects your daily existence in a way few elections will. It’s okay if you haven’t paid attention until now, because all you have to do is vote YES on TUESDAY. You’re not too late!
Oklahoma law allows cities to fund core infrastructure through essentially one method - occasionally asking voters for permission to complete a specific list of projects, funded by a small portion of your overall property tax bill. We generally call these “bond issue” elections.
This is the way Oklahoma City maintains our streets, bridges and provides for our other basic needs. There is generally no other way to meet those needs. And so, each decade, we present you another list of projects, and you vote to approve it. This new list picks up where we left off with the last list of projects, and so you pay the same tax rate as you did before. Without approval of the bond issue, all street repairs and other city maintenance would come to a complete halt. Eventually, our city would literally fall apart.
This century, Oklahoma City voters have approved bond issues in 2007 and 2017. In 2017, all the questions were approved, and the streets question received 72%.
You are now being asked to approve the latest list of projects. There are over 500 projects addressing streets and other basic needs. These projects are in every corner of the city. I guarantee you that there are a bunch of projects on the list that will affect your daily life for years to come. Every single project is transparently listed at this link:

TUESDAY is the day to vote YES, so we can continue to address our basic needs without raising our tax rate. It is true that there is no opposition, but there are always people who vote no, even if there is no particular reason to vote no. All that counts in the end are the votes of those who show up. So you have to show up, as you always have during this Oklahoma City renaissance.
You don’t want to live in a city that isn’t investing in itself, and you definitely don’t want to live in a city that isn’t repairing its streets and addressing other basic needs. So get out and vote YES on TUESDAY!
OKC SUPPORTERS: Election Day is THIS TUESDAY Oct. 14!
