@owocki unions (ie collectives/coops) work. they are simple and elegant and the rational foundation for any DAO. historically, their flaw is external, non-contribution-based influence. what comes next is nuanced but what will last and what can scale is clear :)

i have a tough time reconciling this take with, well, almost* anything ive experienced this decade in the digital space (whether we’re talking games, still collections, non-fungis, ai, longform media, movies, teleslop, etc.). ofc there are notably exceptions, but what i say below applies to +99% and culture itself. —— yes, the “3 parallels” reflect and speak of the economic difficulties of the times. but this scene’s art does not. art movements have, historically. thus, this is not a parallel, but a staunch difference between today’s culture and past movements. —— this space is capable of talking about anything, yet it ~never speaks to material conditions or injustices - instead, it reinforces inequality and struggle. i ask you, when was the last significant digital piece revolting against power or underscoring the grave calamities of today’s hegemony? i can count all the nonfungi works i know of that even approached these topics on one hand. —— ~50 years back, “the revolution will not be televised” was a profound signal about the dispersal of information, injustice, change, propaganda and media noise. ~today, instead of fighting injustice with art, this space is drowning in an attention economy televising (to sell) the latest nothingness, all while the world sours. all while speaking about sales tags, not change. so, while this griftopia may exist in struggle like past movements, it’s messages (or lack of) run shallow, and the art itself is anything but parallel to historical art, by the simple nature of the subjects which the art speaks. —— it’s not only not parallel: people trying to escape wage slavery by gambling on shallow art/gimmicks/grifts is a failure to heed the messages of last century’s movements. these are failure signals. they are lessons to learn from, not celebrate. and so, for the most part, i find this current space insulting to real historical movements, which largely spoke against the behaviours which this space now enshrines. —— i was using the word (“soulful”) yesterday to suggest it [soul] is exactly what has been lost and must be recovered. as is, this digital cesspool has been going the opposite direction, shaping a cult of commerce and speculation and extraction instead of genuine collaboration and community. ultimately, my question is, how could this ish be “soulful”, when it’s always so preoccupied selling it’s soul?

the root problem with modern gaming and* ai is the same: they are looked at (+created) through the lens of seeking profit, instead of through a lens of shaping human (soulful) experiences. when something is made for money instead of for human beans, dont be surprised it sucks.

i think either punctuation or sans (ie open) is fine… its inconsistency that drives me crazy (which im prone to accidentally do myself). in any case, i really dont like the idea of changing how i write to distinguish such from ai. that tendency would turn our own instincts into reactive slop of artificial reactive slop, which i am terrified of (and is, sadly, happening).

@redoctober111 the funny/ironic/devastating thing is marxism would increase personal property by eliminating private property (which takes from collective property and personal property). under capitalism you rent a bird scooter and mortgage/rent your home (if lucky). under communism you own.
