今日は夕方まで参議院決算委員会に出席していましたが、先ほどNATOの国防大臣会合などに出席するためにトルコに向けて出発しました。 参議院決算委員会が始まった直後の13時過ぎに中国の潜水艦によるミサイル発射がありました。 今回のミサイル発射に伴い中国から事前通報があった区域の一部には、潮岬（しおのみさき）南の我が国の排他的経済水域が含まれていました。 また、今日の午前、在北京日本大使館は、中国国防部から本件通報に関し弾道ミサイルを発射するとの説明を受けました。これに対しては、我が方から、中国の軍事活動が活発化していることへの深刻な懸念を伝達したところです。 中国は、国防費を継続的に高い水準で増加させ、十分な透明性を欠いたまま、ICBMを含む核・ミサイル戦力を広範かつ急速に増強させています。また、我が国周辺における軍事活動を益々拡大、活発化させています。このような中国の軍事動向等は、その透明性の不足と相まって我が国と国際社会の深刻な懸念事項となっている中、今般のミサイル発射を懸念するのは当然です。 引き続き、 警戒監視活動に万全を期すとともに、関連の動静を注視していきます。 このようなタイミングでのNATO会議出席は、各国の防衛大臣らと対面で情報と認識の共有を行う上で重要です。日本のためにしっかりと働いてまいります。
I was part of a panel on media ethics at a workshop organized by the Journalists Against Corruption (JAC), a network of investigative reporters in Southeast Asia. There's much to discuss, dissect, and digest on how we navigate ethical landmines in the current digital reporting ecosystem. This comes as we face declining public trust in media, struggling newsrooms, and reporters facing harassment, intimidation, and unstable working conditions. Really -- so much work to do! Still, this opportunity to step back, huddle, and talk to fellow reporters in the region had been inspiring.
