there's something i randomly started doing in sf for the last few months. instead of just meeting people at events for 10-15 minutes and moving on, i’d end up co-working with them afterwards if they were up for it. since i was alone in the valley for most of the trip, i was constantly observing new things, not just about sf but about the people i was meeting as well. what i realised was that the most valuable conversations didn't just happen at the event itself. they were more likely to happen later if you spent more time getting to know the other person better and understanding their work. while co-working with the people i'd meet at events, they'd stop pitching themselves and talk more openly. and that's how i was able to see how they actually think. some of the best people i met in sf came through those co-working sessions. one of those people is @gurvansh99. super sharp guy and genuinely one of the smartest people i came across when it comes to gtm and process design. watching how he approached growth conversations was interesting because everything felt structured with clear thinking, first principles, and systems. that really stood out for me. i think we overestimate traditional networking sometimes. sure, a quick intro can tell you what someone does, but working alongside them tells you how they think. and i’m convinced the second one matters much more.

if you're in sf then you must know it's a rite of passage for people to end up at @UseCorgi similarly, one place that quietly became a big part of my sf experience was corgi cafe. i worked from there most days, and some of the best conversations i had happened by accident. (like the one time i met someone who was looking up @blockwee right next to me, and i happened to just notice our website open on their laptop) usually, i'd grab a coffee, open my laptop, and almost always would end up talking to a founder building something interesting. what impressed me most was how naturally brands became part of that environment. people weren't being sold to. they were discovering products through conversations, events, and recommendations. the best marketing isn't about getting more attention. it's about becoming part of the places where your customers already spend time. shout out to prarabdh and ariella for some of the most interesting convos i have had here around gtm.
