God did not write the #Torah or the #Koran. Both are human products – maybe with some kind of divine inspiration, if you want (and whatever that means). But as human products they are by necessity flawed, & products of their historical time & sociology. Neither must guide policy.

The Jewish people got on the nationalism bandwagon as part of general historical trends in the 19th century. The Palestinian people got on that same bandwagon, perhaps a little bit later. But both groups are “peoples” and both groups have the right to national self-determination.

Being a liberal Zionist means acknowledging the right of the Jewish people to self-determination in part of their historic homeland, and also acknowledging the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination in part of their historic homeland.
