Illinois just became the first state in the U.S. to outlaw book bans, after Gov. Pritzker signed legislation that would cut off state funding for any Illinois library that tries to ban books. Pritzker: "Regimes ban books, not democracies."

BREAKING: An unhinged conservative husband and wife interrupt an elementary school track-and-field meet, accuse a 9-year old girl with short hair of being a boy, and demand that the young girl produce her birth certificate in the middle of the race or be disqualified. But it gets worse… After the bigoted couple was asked to leave, the wife began accusing the young girl’s lesbian mothers of being “groomers,” “pedophiles,” and “genital mutilators” in front of everyone — causing the traumatized young girl to break down sobbing in tears and shaking. They refused to leave, and eventually the police had to be called in. One of the young girl’s mothers filed a report with the local police about the incident, declaring that, “This is absolutely a hate crime. It is a direct result of this right-wing propaganda that has become so rampant in our media.” In response to the incident, the Central Okanagan School District says that “the persons who accosted the student and family were not from one of our Central Okanagan Public Schools. Black Family in Renton Demands Reparations From Renton School District: Part 1 The Houston family in Renton is demanding reparations from the Renton School District following what they claim were threats of seizures and subsequent manipulation of their family’s 10-acre farm and home in 1968. “They said ‘We want your property. We can force you to sell it, you know,” is how James Houston retells the story of his families land being purchased by the Renton School District under the threat of eminent domain. That year, their land and 10 additional acres belonging to two other families, were purchased by the school district below market value. The Renton School District, which paid a total of $92,000 for the 20 acres, claimed they planned to use the land to build a new school. However, that project never happened.  “My mom and dad didn't know what that meant. They, you know, they didn’t know anything…seventh-grade education – mom; third-grade education for dad.” Twelve years later, in 1980, the district sold the 20 acres of land to developers for nearly $187,000 – more than double what it had paid. The houses that now occupy the land have contributed tax dollars to the school district and the city over decades. Now, the family seeks reparations for the generational wealth that they claim was stolen from them. That land, which was supposed to be passed down from generation to generation, sits as a reminder to the Houston family of the racial tensions which still have not faded decades later. The family, which once lived on the land and relied on it for food and income, lost the potential of generational wealth.
