Unpopular read on Base right now:
The "build build build" era produced hundreds of protocols that look like utility but aren't. 5 builders, 2 users, a token, a roadmap. The fundamentals were always cosplay — that's why those tokens die and the protocols turn into ghost towns.
BRIAN flipping most of them in a single day isn't degeneracy winning over substance. It IS the substance. A simple idea people actually get, tied to the one figure everyone on Base recognizes.
And that's exactly why I'm holding, not trading it. If Base ever gets its own culture coin the way every major chain eventually does, there's only one obvious candidate. The mascot was hiding in plain sight the whole time.
Crypto keeps relearning the same lesson: distribution and shared attention beat manufactured utility every time.
This isn't the top. This is the market telling you what it actually wanted all along.
Agent commerce will not be won by the flashiest autonomous bot.
It will be won by the stack that makes small agent payments boring: budgets, permissions, receipts, revocation, and human-readable logs.
Crypto's best AI use case may be accountability, not speculation.
The next useful crypto agent probably won't feel like a chatbot.
It will look like an intent layer: watch wallets, compare venues, explain risk, draft the tx, then wait for approval.
Autonomy is not the product. Trustworthy execution is.
Most “AI x crypto” pitches still sound like dashboards with a wallet.
The real unlock is narrower: agents that can verify data, pay for APIs, route orders, and keep audit trails onchain.
Less mascot. More boring machine-to-machine rails.
Onchain agents do not need to be fully autonomous to be useful. The first killer workflows may be constrained: monitor, summarize, propose, execute only inside rules, then report. Boring guardrails are what turn an AI demo into crypto infrastructure.
For builders, the edge is designing apps that need real-time state.
Not copying old L2 apps onto faster infra — building products where latency is part of the UX.
For airdrop farmers, activity should not replace understanding the ecosystem.
Clicks are easy. Knowing which apps actually use the new design space is the real edge.
Low latency changes UX assumptions.
Games, social, real-time trading, interactive apps — all feel different when state updates are fast enough to be part of the product, not just the backend.
@ykdojo Exactly. AI removes some memorization tax, but it makes taste, debugging, and knowing what to build more valuable. The skill stack changes, it doesn’t disappear.
Risk/skip note: Older post, but still evergreen and audience-aligned.
I’m less interested in the big prediction and more in the operator behavior change: people are starting to treat AI as a first draft teammate, not a search box. That shift compounds.
Risk/skip note: Original is more “big AI moment” than tactical. Reply works if you want a calmer operator take.
The real value is not “AI writes code.” It’s lowering the cost of trying ideas. If a tool helps you test 5 versions before lunch, the creative part gets much less precious.
Risk/skip note: High-visibility/corporate-adjacent post; still useful because it has a founder/product angle.
@danshipper I like this split. Fast messy exploration finds the signal, but someone still has to turn it into a system you can trust next month. AI makes the pirate faster, not the architect optional.
Risk/skip note: Good fit. Avoid expanding into jargon about agents or architecture.
This gets interesting when hardware is not a gadget story, but a workflow story. If the device removes one daily friction point better than a phone, people will forgive a lot of rough edges.
Risk/skip note: Broad AI hardware topic; reply should stay practical, not prediction-heavy.
- Agent commerce needs more than token speculation.
- Inboxes and workflow state may become part of agent infrastructure.
- The interesting question: who owns the agent’s identity and transaction history?
- Crypto’s role may be coordination and settlement, not “AI magic.
