Interesting ideas Craig. I generally like a systems thinking approach however I see some elements of these explanations as absolving key players of moral culpability by assigning outcomes to ultimately being a product of our own supposed desire for recognition. Certainly food for thought though and it’s encouraging to see much needed thinkers in this space appearing domestically. Thomas Sowell touches on some of these ideas in a very accessible manner in Vision of the Annointed

Every beheading on Western soil is a provocative act of raw subjugation and thus, a declaration of war. To sever a head is a kind of psychological conquest, a deliberate humiliation designed to break the spirit of the host population, broadcast supremacy, and signal that the old rules no longer apply. The left-leaning politicians and journalists say “don’t be divisive.” But what’s divisive is the blade that divided a head from a body, turning a human being into a trophy, a warning, and a desecrated symbol of a defeated civilization. This is siege warfare by other means. “We are here. We own this ground now. Submit or bleed.” Beheadings declare total enmity and total dominance. They reject you and your way of life, your decency and your proud history, and replace them with medieval spectacle and religious terror. The Australian state has lost all moral legitimacy. This is not a slogan or empty rhetoric. It is a cold, rational conclusion based on the systematic and deliberate destruction of the original social contract between the Australian people and the state. The core problem is upstream, not downstream. The state has actively undermined the shared identity, culture, and trust that once formed the foundation of this nation. Instead of addressing these fundamental issues, they respond with more laws, more surveillance, more censorship, and more control. We have repeatedly offered clear off-ramps. Mike Burgess himself called for a whole-of-nation approach. Citizen summits and genuine consultation with the Australian people were proposed. These were arrogantly dismissed. The political class is so ideologically captured and self-absorbed in their managerial utopia that they refuse to acknowledge the damage they have caused. They are no longer capable of recognising that they are the problem. By deliberately ignoring the upstream causes of social breakdown while criminalising those who point them out, the state has not only lost its moral legitimacy — it has created the very conditions for the instability and division that is now tearing the country apart. They have manufactured their own permission for what is to come.

Le coupable détourne sa faute en désignant un bouc émissaire, et le système l'accepte d'autant plus volontiers qu'il colle au rôle attendu. Henry n'a pas été cru parce qu'il ne pouvait pas jouer la victime. Sa catégorie le lui interdisait. Souvenez-vous. Le monde entier s'est agenouillé pour quatre mots, « I can't breathe ». Des entreprises, des gouvernements, des stades entiers. Henry a prononcé exactement les mêmes mots, en train de mourir. Il n'y aura ni genou à terre, ni hashtag, ni minute de silence. Parce que sa mort ne sert pas le cadre. Elle le contredit. Voilà l'inversion finale, et la plus monstrueuse. Une idéologie née en promettant de protéger les vulnérables a fini par apprendre à des hommes à ignorer la personne la plus vulnérable de la pièce, celle qui agonise, parce que sa catégorie n'était pas la bonne. Et le vrai piège, c'est de croire que l'erreur aurait été de choisir le mauvais camp. Non. L'erreur, c'est de choisir des camps. De voir des catégories là où il y a un être humain qui saigne devant soi. De Foucault à Southampton, voilà la ligne droite.
