Again, this was the entire ball-game in the Biden admin. Inflation and the economy. Constant hanging on every number to blame Biden (for the Covid economy he inherited from Trump). It's was a persistent narrative. Now, Trump inherited a great economy and is single-handedly wrecking it and it's barely a blip in the coverage. All of the political media just does not care. No narratives. Nothing. And it was all entirely predictable.

IMO the larger problem for moderates is just that the modest achievements of the mayor of New York City have received orders of magnitude more coverage than what the governors of North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan have done combined because the media is very NYC-centric.
You can just do stuff. Trump has proven it. Zohran is too. So imo — the establishments challenge right now isn’t just ideology. It’a that their default premise is so defensive. They’re always explaining what’s not possible
Dems DO do stuff. Lots of it. Joe Biden got a whole lot of stuff done (especially with how slim of a majority he had). Things like successfully helping the country recover from Covid, infrastructure reform, the largest investment in clean energy/climate change legislation in history. CHIPS Act, etc etc. But despite people saying that's exactly what they wanted it got ZERO coverage from people like Astead and the media. All that mattered was that Joe Biden Was Old. Did he successfully turn around the economy that he was dealt by Trump? Who cares...all that matters is if he flubbed a word during a speech. People like Astead were a big part of why voters did not think that Bien 'did stuff.' Not one second of reflection, though.

The first time the United States has ever helped another country enrich uranium on foreign soil. The Saudis refused the inspection protocol 140 other countries accept. Too intrusive, they said. Trump agreed. He signed a national security waiver to get around the rule. The Saudis paid Kushner $100 million. They put $2 billion into his firm. They put another $6 billion into LIV Golf, which pays Trump properties to host its tournaments. They signed ten billion dollars in Trump-branded real estate deals in Jeddah and Riyadh. All in just the last few years. But sure. My paintings.
