Updated Hornets team salary. I assume Dorian Finney-Smith's contract is absorbed into the MLE. His contract has a 3.2% trade bonus, which eats a little more part of the full amount. The remaining MLE would become useful later into the season to sign or convert a player.

And like Richie said, Ball can give up the bonus to make a trade work, but in that scenario, it’s more like him picking a favorable destination than doing Hornets a favor.

@richierandall It’s not only about Hornets paying less trade bonus to Ball, but that the counterpart team can take a smaller salary into team salary, making both the salary matching and hard cap avoiding easier.

Updated Hornets salary situation based on 26-27 season numbers. There are pending deals, so some numbers are estimation. I believe Diabate's salary needs to be increased to his minimum salary (4 yrs of service) which is $2,625,627.

However, unless they have a different contract structure with White, Reid is the highest paid player in 26-27 season and over the length of the current contract. I also recommend checking Spotrac website or supporting other Hornets content creators.

If Hornets expand the Josh Green and LaMelo trade, how much more salary they can receive without sending out more? about $46 million. If Hornets want to acquire a larger contract, they can re-route Reid to another team or add Grant Williams. Math is simple, negotiations are not.

@djdotmp4 Well said. It is difficult to sell at the peak value. I would wait and see the details on those draft pick swaps. Perhaps the value that they aim to add is the potential to get a top 1 or top 5 pick, not merely a first round pick.
