I'm not sure Peter or even expert military sources are always the best placed to identify relative strengths. History shows the military consistently fail to identify when the technology and tactics they use have become outdated. There are many metrics for measuring military might and I am no expert and I hope I am wrong, but I do fear we have been lulled into a sense of assurance the country with the highest tech weaponry will win out. This argument is not based on intimate knowledge of military hardware, but is an assessment of high level factors and logic. Plus there are anyway military experts who are saying this. If at the high-level, logic shows we are at a disadvantage, detailed knowledge will most usually be neither here nor there. These IMO are the relevant factors: 1. Military high-tech advantage is being neutralised by low tech alternatives that can be mass manufactured. A drone swarm can be very difficult to deal with (this is a kind of rerun of the Spitfire vs Hurricane argument - but with a far more highly geared cost and ease of replacement differential) 2. Expensive set-piece hardware such as aircraft carriers have become something of a liability in the age of hypersonic missiles. 3. Expensive ballistics once expended cannot be easily replaced. Replacement takes years not weeks or months. "The West" has an over reliance on such hardware. 4. Air power and aerial / guided ballistic assault alone is not sufficient to win a major conflict. Peter may not to have noticed aircraft carriers have not been figuring in recent actions. When the US began their "shock and awe" assault on Iraq, they were front and centre of the news bulletins. Now they are being kept back from the frontline. Also there are experts who claim 50% of US high tech ballistics have been expended in the action taken against Iran. Peter might do well to hear some of what Palmer Lucky has to say. Palmer Lucky is a young gaming system manufacturer turned US Military Hardware consultant who has been commissioned by the US DOD to address manufacturing cost / efficiency problems. He might easily be written off by those who are not aware of his history, however the relevance of his expertise in today's world is second to none (and all credit to the US military for recognising that). OK he is not talking about Russia, but for instance, he points out that China has 300 times the capacity for the manufacture of Naval vessels than the US. Yes read that again. While this has no bearing (or at best, indirect bearing) on the relative strength versus Russia it does starkly illustrate the extent to which assumptions many have regarding relative military might should probably be somewhat recalibrated. When I was younger the statistic often quoted was how the US, by the end of WWII could create a Destroyer every 17 days. The differential with Germany (whatever it was) can now only have been utterly eclipsed by a 300 x differential between the US and China.

You are being too "clever" and over intellectual. Tommy Robinson isn't a monster. He is a man. He is sharp. He is a folk hero - in the mould of Robin Hood. That comparison might at first seem off kilter, but consider: Robin Hood didn't steel from the rich and give to the poor, he stole from a rich overbearing authoritarian and venal system of governance and righted a moral wrong. He stood up and was counted. That is not a monster. That is a man and folk hero.

What has happened is that the theatrical process is being refined. It might seem - and indeed it is - ridiculous, but, like with so much else in modern life, the establishment has realised the narrative sheen is a percentages game. They have given-up on the need for their image to be consistent with authentic belief because they have learned it doesn't matter if the percentage who see exactly who they are is small enough. But their hubris is growing. Because it is easier if they don't have to attend to the insight of all of the electorate, they think, indeed (perhaps due to covid) have learned they can let the mask slip where a good portion of the population see them for what they are (I am speaking in non political terms here). They think the figure they have to convince is "more 50%" I rather suspect they fail to understand, that isn't the case. Throughout history it has only require a small motivated percentage to affect change in the face of a larger disengaged majority.

Fauci is a political animal. His capacity for avoiding saying what he really thought and getting others to do his dirty work, without saying directly what it is he wanted them to do, is in some senses quite admirable. But as they say about liars, they need to have a really, really good memory, and that is where he (inevitably) lets himself down. Contrast Kristian Andersen. The guy was more open and naive. I get the sense he was being quite honest in the feelings he expressed in his messages. Consequently, he leaves himself far more exposed. You have to almost admire Fauci's ability to engineer a result without directly asking for the result he wants. He is a consummate political animal. Andersen probably thought he was completely on the same page as Fauci, without ever realising he had committed thoughts to messages Fauci astutely avoided. Yet Fauci, I am quite sure was leading Andersen and the rest of the natural-origin author team.

That has taken a significant bite out of his support that is never coming back. Reportedly he insisted Rupert Lowe and Tommy Robinson should be disinvited from the UK CPAC event organised by Liz Truss or he would not give the keynote. It was half empty. Farage has become a liability and is now seen as an establishment stooge.

How is what he has said wrong? I think that position is defendable, it's only flaw (apart from being unfashionable, which is not really a flaw or something Peter Hitchens is usually worried about) is that it uses personalised anthropomorphised language about a country and the word "forced" is too simplistic in relation to Putin's motives. Whilst I can understand such reductionism is annoying, I'm not sure it should be called a "grotesquely twisted misrepresentation."

Millions must go. I refuse to be demographicaly replaced. Seeing areas built by British men over centuries entirely occupied by foreigners, who overwhelmingly vote at every turn to subjugate us, breaks my heart. Our islands must be British again. You can't have freedom without a homogeneous society.

You could be standing in the middle of Pakistan, and you wouldn’t know the difference. British communities have been forced out. Not over centuries, but years. Local men and women have watched these streets change in the most thorough and ruthlessly efficient manner. The working class who built Greater Manchester have been driven out of certain streets, neighbourhoods and even towns. Replaced. In the most part? By one culture. By one religion. By one way of life. Islam. So let’s call it what it is. Colonisation. It’s happened there, I saw for myself. It will happen elsewhere. I felt uncomfortable on those streets. I can only imagine how women feel, late at night and alone. The vast majority just don’t go. Unwelcome in their own town. The good people of Greater Manchester have an opportunity on Thursday to register their discontent. Their anger. Their fury. Marlon West, our candidate, knows what happens better than anyone when these parallel communities and legal systems are able to effectively police themselves, and it ends with vulnerable white girls getting abused and raped. It happened to his daughter, and it’s happened to thousands and thousands of other daughters across the region. It continues today, and every day. Restore Britain is offering a democratic route out. On Thursday, thousands and thousands of Greater Manchester men and women will take it.
