An LGBTQIA+ work group, formed by the board, warned the trustees that maintaining the employment policy would have adverse affects on SPU. Since the decision in May, many of those negative consequences have come to fruition.
In the aftermath of that vote, people at SPU began to realize that certain members of the board had conspired to make sure the policy did not change, even though the trustees had promised to work alongside the SPU community.
