Once children reach a certain level of awareness(age varies wildly), the overwhelming majority display empathy, at least in the last 50ish years. Unfortunately, it is often shattered by poor parenting &/or schools. Most forget their young consciousness
Every single person exists for a reason. Hating on them pushes them away from their purpose(except for graph borders). That does not mean, or not not mean, some grand design. Some are larger versions of body pains, "check engine" sensors. Smacking it never solves issue long-term.
