This was my cousin, 21-year-old Mohammad Barakat, a determined student and outspoken Palestinian. This week, while studying abroad in Hamburg, Germany - he was brutally murdered in what our family and his friends suspect is a possible hate crime. His university friends relayed to his mother that he was shot in the head twice - execution style by another student at his university. They believe it was in response to his posts in support of Palestine. Our family has informed me that the police are still holding his body, and are being highly uncooperative in the investigation of his death. There is also little to no news or articles about the situation, which is shocking to us considering the circumstances. I am currently seeking more details and I will provide updates as I get them. All we want is a proper investigation. Please continue sharing this story until that happens.
