@Clevy_Law This is so true. I've said this before and I'll say it again that in business the other executives just want you to make the decision or tell them what decision to make. They don't have time for legal opinions and throwing the decision over the fence for them to make.

@ramit Yes, but over the long term like decades rents will go up with inflation. But I agree it depends and you need to run the numbers although much of the calculus depends on the assumptions you make.

@heyitsalexsu This trend makes sense with the push to align legal with business objectives but is a disaster in the making for legal's role in overseeing business conduct. Many people are losing the big picture of what legal's value is. Is it to just execute on services or something bigger?

@jkubicki I think the root cause is more about billing hours and being under constant pressure to keep them high. An hour you give yourself now, is an hour you'll have to make back later, so you never have a break. Other jobs allow you to be successful by being effective.

@Bonhoeffer_KDS @McD_Investments Everyone uses reinsurance. I think the question is are they underwriting the gross line or the net. I think underwriting the net probably invites trouble long term. I think the best underwrite the gross and use reinsurance opportunistically.

@cvaldheims Agree on your framing. What I'm saying is only some legal problems can be avoided. There are solutions and these are mostly operational solutions, not legal. There is another class of problems due to inherent uncertainty of what the law is. This is where competition lives.

@withfilesfrom This is odd and wrong. It makes sense if you are requesting access to your own information, but not an FOI request which is a public right of access. In that case your identity does not matter.

@EricForgy @stephendpalley Market a function of supply. Supply a function of capacity. Capacity a function of potential ROE. Potential ROE a function of what actuaries think you need to charge to pay your claims and expenses and make a return. It is all connected.
