6 AUGUST 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ADC TO TINUBU: WHICH COURT ORDER DID YOU DIRECT EFCC TO VACATE? - Says president’s press statement curious, unusual. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed President Bola Tinubu's directive to reverse the freezing of the Osun State Government's accounts but questioned his claim that the EFCC acted on the basis of a court order, noting that the President was either misinformed or he had deliberately misrepresented the situation. In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, the party argued that the President's admission that he directed the EFCC to discontinue the action undermines claims of the agency's independence or neutrality, thereby confirming that the President actually directs the operational conduct of the anti-graft agencies. The party also describes the reversal as a response to sustained public outrage rather than a voluntary act of restraint, noting that the anti-graft agency would not have acted so recklessly in the first if it did not presume the authorisation of the federal government. The full statement read: While the African Democratic Congress (ADC) welcomes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately discontinue its attempt to freeze the accounts of the Osun State Government, the President's statement has raised far more troubling questions than it answers. What we find most curious about the statement is the President's repeated reference to an alleged court order authorising the freezing of the Osun State Government's accounts. This is a remarkable new twist. In all of its public statements on this matter, the EFCC never once claimed that it had obtained a court order. The Commission consistently defended its actions on the basis of its statutory powers and what it described as “preventive mandate."” At no point did it inform Nigerians that a court had authorised its actions. The obvious question, therefore, is: where did the president obtain the information that a court order existed? If such an order exists, why was it never mentioned by the EFCC in its statement while defending one of the most controversial actions it has taken in recent times? Why was it not mentioned by the EFCC spokesperson when he appeared on Arise Television on Thursday morning? If no such order exists, why would the president introduce one into the public narrative? It is either the President was misinformed or he had chosen to misrepresent the facts. Either possibility is deeply disturbing. The President also insists that he does not interfere in the operational activities of anti-corruption agencies, yet in the same statement he publicly announces that he has directed the EFCC to approach the court, vacate the alleged order, and discontinue its case. That admission raises an uncomfortable question. If the President possesses the authority to direct the EFCC to withdraw from court proceedings because the political consequences may affect an election, then it follows that he possesses the authority to direct the Commission in other operational matters as well. The net implication is that the carefully cultivated argument that these agencies operate entirely independently collapses under the weight of the President's own statement. Indeed, the presidency's attempt at strategic distancing has achieved precisely the opposite. Rather than demonstrating institutional independence, it confirms that the presidency could whimsically intervene or direct one way or another based on political considerations.

AUGUST 15 ELECTION IS NOT JUST ABOUT WINNING, IT IS TO SEND A STRONG MESSAGE TO APC ON THE IMPORTANCE OF RESPECTING THE PEOPLE. On numerous occasions, Oyetola and Oyebamiji have used their influence within the ruling party at the federal level to punish the people of Osun State simply because they chose to vote for us in 2022. Their actions have targeted the welfare of our workers and threatened the livelihoods of our civil servants, traders, artisans, and ordinary citizens. That is why the August 15 election is more than just winning. It is about securing a decisive victory that sends a clear and unmistakable message to the APC: the people of Osun State must always be respected, their democratic choice must be honoured, and no one should ever seek to punish them for exercising their constitutional right to vote.

The increasing use of federal institutions to disrupt governance in opposition states in Nigeria is condemnable. As I said in my last newsletter, no government is above scrutiny but when institutions like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are utilised to witch hunt specific states or public office holders, it indicates that their investigations are selective and erodes public trust in these institutions. The “freezing” of an official state government account without due legal process goes beyond the powers vested in the EFCC by the laws of our land. And the timing of the action suggests that this is just another attempt by the federal government to unduly influence the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State. Federal institutions must remain faithful to their constitutional mandate by acting with fairness, professionalism and political neutrality at all times. We therefore call on all Nigerians, civil society organisations and the international community to remain vigilant. Democracy cannot thrive where our institutions are perceived as instruments of political intimidation. Protecting the independence and credibility of our institutions is essential to preserving public trust and safeguarding Nigeria's democracy. The rule of law must prevail over the rule of politics.

Many commercial farmers have either suspended farming this year or have reduced uptake mainly due to massive crash in price of maize that does not meet cost due to govt allowed importation. Some of us still managed to engage in maize farming despite the serious challenges.

The Presidency is now attacking Cardinal John Onaiyekan, saying he breached confidentiality by discussing the bishops’ private meeting with President Tinubu during an @ARISEtv interview. They are saying Onaiyekan didn't show restraint and maturity. They said he abused privileges. But that is not true, and Nigerians will not fall for their gimmick. After the meeting, the presidency carefully edited Tinubu’s responses and posted them all over the social media. To them that wasn't breaching confidentiality. They wanted the bishop's to keep quiet and allow Nigerians to attack and accuse them of already going to collect money from Tinubu to support him. These people are just too fraudulent. The meeting was supposed to be confidential, yet they were releasing all Tinubu said sounding like MC Oluomo during the meeting. They wanted the bishop's to endorse his shameful "all is fair in politics," statement. They wanted the bishop's to endorse that he as president is threatening to wrestle his opponents to the ground. Or the president saying the economy is doing well and hunger has been existing even before he was born statement. They wanted to use their dirty politics to stain the bishop's white cassocks. They are just fraudulent.

How can anyone listen to Atiku Abubakar speak and still compare him with other presidential hopefuls? The difference is not hidden. You hear it in the depth of his understanding, the clarity of his ideas, and the way he approaches Nigeria’s problems.

Atiku has solutions to many Nigeria Problems. From electricity, security, oil and gas, lower cost of living etc. Had Atiku become Nigeria President 15yrs ago, we won’t be in this mess we have found ourselves as a nation today!
