Oggi ho cercato di fermare la "#ChatControl". Nel fine settimana, io e Sibylle Berg abbiamo dovuto comunicare per iscritto alla Presidente del Parlamento Metsola che imporre la Chat Control tramite una procedura d'urgenza viola, purtroppo, il Regolamento interno del Parlamento #UE. Sebbene in seguito Metsola abbia dichiarato alla stampa interessata (erroneamente) che tutto fosse regolare, stiamo ancora attendendo una sua risposta ufficiale. Ecco perché ho voluto spiegarle nuovamente la questione oggi, durante la seduta di apertura a Strasburgo. Con mia sorpresa, ho scoperto che la Presidente conosce bene le regole: mi ha tolto la parola dopo esattamente 60 secondi. (Una mossa tecnicamente conforme al regolamento, anche se raramente applicata). Avevo però ancora molto da dire: "Signora Presidente, ai sensi dell'articolo 22, lei è la custode di queste regole [mostrando il Regolamento stampato]: la prego di dichiarare inammissibile la mozione d'urgenza. Dopotutto, non siamo a Malta! Sarei lieto di consegnarle personalmente la versione aggiornata del Regolamento. Al bar degli eurodeputati". Cosa succederà ora? Domani è prevista la votazione sulla procedura d'urgenza, anche se tale voto non dovrebbe nemmeno aver luogo. Se la mozione dovesse passare, la Chat Control andrà al voto in plenaria giovedì a mezzogiorno. Per bloccarla, 361 eurodeputati — una maggioranza qualificata — dovrebbero votare *contro*. La brutta notizia: giovedì è l'ultimo giorno prima della pausa estiva e molti eurodeputati saranno probabilmente già in viaggio per le vacanze. Viene quasi da sospettare una manovra poco limpida dietro questa programmazione... Se la Chat Control dovesse passare, le piattaforme (ovvero i colossi tecnologici statunitensi) potranno tornare a scansionare i vostri messaggi allegramente — e in piena legalità — e continuare a farlo. Quindi, vi conviene assicurarvi che ciò che scriverete nelle prossime settimane sia un po' più divertente... SUB. ITALIANO🇮🇹

The largest open library in human history, Anna's Archive, has been ordered to pay Spotify and the three largest record labels on the world $322 million. The defendant has not appeared in court and is not going to. The site is still up with two backup domains standing by and there's nothing the censors can do. Anna's Archive currently holds 63 million books, 95 million academic papers, and 1.1 petabytes of mirrored torrents. It is free. It is searchable. It is run by a pseudonymous person nobody has identified after four long years of searching. In the four months since the music industry filed the first of three coordinated lawsuits, the library has lost six domain names and added two million books to the catalogue. The cartel is suing it faster every month, and it is growing faster every month. In December, Spotify and the major labels filed. In January, OCLC, the company that runs WorldCat, won a default judgment of its own. On March 6th, thirteen of the largest book publishers in the United States, including HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Simon and Schuster, Macmillan, Hachette, Elsevier, Wiley, and McGraw Hill, filed a third lawsuit in the same federal court.
