What @nvk did to bitcoin self custody will be remembered as the 08 moment of self custody. He put the entire self custody industry back at least 5 years! Its so sad because newbies will now think they are better off holding their coins in an ETF or on an exchange because of ONE PERSON who F### Up. Thankfully, none of our users lost any funds @21stcap and I have been on the phone in the past 15 hours saving at least 200+ bitcoin with clients.

Guys i'm sorry but i can't even keep my eyes open at this stage. Article will come out tomorrow. TLDR: - Even if it's mainly MK3 affected for now, MK4,5,Q will follow, possibly very soon. - Your passphrases are shit and will only buy you hours or days at most - multisig is broken if you used at least the the threshold number of Coldcard (example 2 in a 2-of-3) - miniscript (for example Liana) setups are also broken if your primary path follow the multisig case above Taproot may help in some cases. Slipstream helps in Multisig/Miniscript. For Miniscript, the main scare is if you ONLY use Coldcard devices, in that case I'd move funds ASAP. Preferably to a fresh Liana setup, using other brands or generating new mnemonics on your CC with dice. The "threshold" case is less critical, we will explain it better tomorrow.

I will post a blog article later today. But TLDR: - it's worse than you think. - Mk4, MK5, Q will get drained. - multisig of Coldcard devices, or multisig where Coldcard signatures are sufficient to reach the threshold are at risk. - MINISCRIPT WALLETS are ALSO at risk, if you use Coldcards where only CC signatures are enough to spend, or to recover. No need to panic, but time to plan a move to new mnemonics/devices in the next few days, if you used a Coldcard in your setup.

Why does @Ledger keep leaking customer data? A client of ours just sent us a letter she received from a bad actor pretending to be @Ledger. These scammers have become so sophisticated that they even send these scams over physical letter. They claim that the device needs to be "updated" to a quantum resistant version of ledger.
