@ReshapersCIC I'm violently ill today - can barely get out of bed to throw up - and I never get ill. Last time anything like this happened I was under severe stress from mental health hospital institutional abuse. Just saying...! Solidarity ✊

@turtleandturtle I often think that if I had been able to finish my degree I might have become someone who waits around for stuff to come to me rather than having to make stuff happen. And I certainly wouldn't have as strong a sense of purpose as I do now.

@ReshapersCIC @Rgt71Robert @NewStatesman @churchofengland @synod This is where I don't totally agree that apologising to keep one's integrity intact is sufficient. That's all still about the perpetrator. Letting the survivor control the narrative, absolutely; but accepting they can't make amends? Only if they still do whatever they can to try.

@thevicarswife @ReshapersCIC @ChurchTimes @GenSyn I'm one of the survivors sending in feedback on the CCM, and one of the main points I'm making is that I want to see more detail on what makes something a grievance, misconduct or serious misconduct. Is that what you mean by code of practice?

But that's an extreme example. Putting a year's time limit on going through a complaints process shows a complete lack of awareness of how trauma works, let alone the practical risks involved in complaining (which are many, with countless nuances for different circumstances).

In my case, my "good reason"s included not knowing misconduct was happening (he was covering up the abuse I had reported to him and as far as I knew I was patiently waiting for an outcome), and being homeless and hospitalised therefore unable to access Internet and info freely.

So glad to see @ChurchTimes drawing attention to this. The executive power of one person to decide if I had "good reason" not to complain within a year of misconduct, and to do so with misogyny and ableism, was the final straw of me not being able to return to the CofE.
