A common myth… Telegram isn’t private, your data is stored on their cloud servers and they can access it. Signal is private, your data is stored locally on your device, with only an encrypted user list on their server for syncing. You should probably switch to signal

they hold the keys to decrypt the data that is stored on their cloud servers unless you use the secret chat option (doesn't support group chats, and nobody i know uses secret chats). Telegram is encrypted, but it isn't e2e hence them being able to decrypt Signal does not have that function, they have been court ordered a few times to deliver chat history, and everytime have limited user info There is lots of nuance and imo that is part of the telegram psyop

Yeah, true - and as the US gov has said they can basically predict what people say based on metadata and they kill people over metadata, in the video i'm editing right now 😂 honestly scary little clip. Obv don't do illegal stuff, is the answer, but not getting tracked by oligarch techlords for max profiteering and ai god creation, signal is great
@0xdippo haha a form of self regulation is open sourcing your algorithm for review from the world, improve and everyone can choose to not use it if it's bad. It's the black box stuff that gets pretty weird
imagine if we treated adding a new algorithm to society the same way we treated adding a new medicine to the body. you'd have to demonstrate no harmful effects show up in controlled trials, people who create algorithms with damaging side effects would be held liable, etc
