Apparently, this is one of the earliest known photographs of the sacred Kedarnath Dham, taken in 1882. Couldn’t take my eyes off it. No roads. No railheads. No helicopters. Just the abode of Lord Shiva, cradled by the Himalayas Back then, the yatra demanded time, endurance, & faith. The journey wasn’t incidental; it WAS the pilgrimage. Today, access is easier. And that’s a good thing because it opens the experience to many more. But perhaps something still needs preserving? The ability to slow down & savour the experience of traveling. @amitgoel78 @ravihanda I loved 14 years outside India (Singapore, Denmark, UK right now), but now I am going back to India next month, I never felt like home anywhere in the world. For children.. we are homeschooling, so things are easier compared to other people.

It’s honestly heartbreaking. During Navratri, people wake up early, cook with devotion, prepare prasad with love for little kids who come as Kanjaks. It’s not just food… it’s faith, emotion, and respect. But what do we see now? Some children come only for the money, casually throwing away the food outside once they leave. That same prasad, made with such care, treated like it means nothing. I recently heard about a controversy in a nearby society where entry of non-Hindu kids was restricted. At first, it sounded wrong to me too. But when incidents like this happen, you begin to understand where that reaction comes from. No one should have to see their faith and sentiments disrespected like this. Maybe the real issue isn’t about who is coming but whether the values of respect are being taught at all.
