Are people really more mad at Codeberg banning cryptocurrency projects than GitHub working with ICE?
@devabram I've used nixos-anywhere a few months ago with a minimal base image (just my ssh key). Then I still like this way to update the machine's toplevel: vaibhavsagar.com/blog/2019/08/2…
It's weird to imagine that LLMs are trained on enormous corpus of data but always produce the same sentences. It's also hard to imagine those sentences steer the models in the right direction in the next conversation turns.

@usgraphics There's a place I really like where they have lot of pork meat based recipes. Chef is Muslim and, I assume, doesn't taste those meals.

@hobdaydesign I think LLMs don't really "see" individual characters (eg the infamous how many r in strawberry) within tokens.

@krismicinski Anthropic and OpenAI have tried really hard to make their upcoming models menacing and look like some kind of weapon.
It's also super easy to ask the agent to write a Nix shell and use it. I've used Claude to create a Nix shell to run local LLMs. It looks like a nice way to get started with local LLMs without abandoning the current state of the art abruptly.
@DanielLockyer I’ve been a Nix user for going on like 5 years now but I feel like none of the footguns matter anymore due to agents. And Nix with agents is incredible because of the isolation guarantees (eg it can’t mess up your system). Did this still suck for you?
Some people don't have a formal musical training but will try and succeed in making awesome tracks. Wondering if it will be the same with prompting LLMs.

@sqs It seems the companies in those fields didn't starve everything else to accomplish those advances. The AI companies are precisely preventing the other fields you're glad (or presumably you'd be glad, in the future) to have.
@sqs I'm not sure what you're referring to, but the amount of capital injected in datacenters, (unlawful) turbines,... + the braincycles used everywhere focusing on that particular subject seems to dwarf anything that has existed so far.
