Let's talk about market share... It has come to our attention that users look at this metric to determine the demand of an app or protocol - even before trying out some apps. In general, this is a fair deduction. Market share is a good indicator of the overall usage & demand of a particular app in a sector. However, in our case, this metric unfortunately doesn't holistically reflect our marketplace's usage. Why? Because of the dual functionality of our marketplace. Currently our marketplace serves two purposes: 1. We give users the ability to trade in a manner that benefits them. We have delivered this in 2 ways: a. We provide the ability to make Liquid Offers - you don't need to lock up masses of your liquidity when making offers on NFTs. b. We provide the ability for your $ADA to remained staked to you even when in an offer. We don't profit off your ADA in offers. 2. We show users all listings across the major marketplaces in Cardano so they never miss a listing. Currently we support showing listings from only one other marketplace in addition to our but may soon consider expanding this. It is this aspect of our marketplace, being an NFT Market Aggregator, which is why the "market share" metric does not holistically reflect our marketplace's usage. When you shop on Dropspot, the experience is so smooth such that you will not notice you are purchasing an asset from another marketplace. But, when this occurs, the sale is still accredited to the other marketplace and subsequently, their market share. Does that mean Dropspot is not being used? Absolutely not! In fact, if you look at our internal traffic analytics of our past month, you can see that we have had an influx of users on our marketplace. All the above data amounts to almost 2000 Unique Users in the month of September on Dropspot! So, why are we sharing this? As of now, current solutions on Cardano that reflect market data of NFT Marketplaces accredit market activity to the underlying protocol, not the app responsible for facilitating the interaction - this is 100% fair and we appreciate the openness and communication with us 💙 All this means is we have another task on our hands: To build an internal data dashboard for the community from which we can easily and openly share our marketplace's usage. (one of many things we are working on...) Let this post be the first where we celebrate nearly 2000 Unique Users in the month of September on Dropspot! 🎉 So, in closing, do not assess us on our publicly available Market Share data as it isn't fully representative of the activity occurring via our marketplace. Instead, we will strive to continually update the community on major milestones in usage like this until we develop a more comprehensive internal analytics dashboard. "What can we do in the meantime?" Come test out our marketplace and provide us with feedback wherever you feel appropriate. In the past 2 weeks we have been building based on the feedback we received and...it's working! announcement of another major feature soon... So come try us out! (link to marketplace in name)
