Most of these transactions do not include much data but will hang up the UI while your local copy of Revit waits for a response from the server. In these cases latency has a bigger impact on perceived speed than raw bandwidth.
Not just bandwidth but latency. As I understand it Revit makes frequent small reads and writes to the central file, in the background while you are working. (Move a wall and Revit will "check it out" of the central file so no one else can modify it.)
