Changing curves is not a post-quantum migration. ECDSA and Ed25519 use different constructions, but both rely on discrete-log problems that Shor targets. Shell Chain changes the signature family itself, using ML-DSA as the primary path and hash-based SLH-DSA as a fallback.

A single heavier fork score should not freeze a validator. Shell Chain now pauses block production for a higher noncanonical branch only when that branch carries weighted quorum support. Fork safety needs evidence from the validator set, not one attractive score.

Post-quantum TLS can protect a node connection. It cannot make an ECDSA transaction quantum-safe: signatures outlive the transport layer. Shell Chain puts PQ signatures in the transaction itself, so authorization stays protected through relays, mempools and ledger history.

Shell Chain keeps familiar Ethereum tooling where it helps: eth_ RPC reads for blocks, balances and logs. It changes what quantum risk demands: transaction signing uses PQ-native accounts and Shell SDK. Compatibility should be selective, not inherited blindly.

A 24-word seed does not make an ECDSA account quantum-safe. More seed entropy protects against guessing the seed; Shor attacks the public-key math after the account signs. Different threat, different fix. Shell Chain uses post-quantum signatures at the protocol layer.

In blockchains, “harvest now, decrypt later” becomes “record now, forge later.” History preserves exposed classical public keys. A future Shor-capable attacker can revisit them. Shell Chain uses PQ authorization so yesterday's activity is not tomorrow's signing power.

A pending nonce is not proof that a PQ public key is registered. Mempool transactions can advance nonce state without persisting the key on-chain. Shell SDK now checks registration before contract deploys and writes, embedding the key only when it is actually missing.

A quantum attacker need not hack a node. Shor's algorithm can run off-chain against an exposed classical public key; the recovered key can authorize a normal transaction. The defense belongs in transaction validation. Shell Chain enforces PQ signatures at that boundary.

Session authorization can involve two PQ algorithms. Account identity comes from the root key; a transaction may use a different session scheme. Shell Chain now infers the root algorithm from the embedded key and sender address on first use, keeping both roles correctly bound.

Quantum risk isn't classical crypto weakening gradually. Shor changes the problem: exposed elliptic-curve keys move from infeasible private-key recovery to an efficient quantum algorithm. Waiting for a slow warning curve is the wrong model. Shell Chain starts with PQ signatures.

In weighted consensus, zero must mean zero. Shell Chain now rejects zero-weight finality attestations and view-change messages instead of rounding them up to one. Slashed or inactive validators cannot occupy quorum state or influence finality and leader changes.

A Shor-forged transaction does not arrive labeled "quantum attack." If it verifies under a vulnerable classical key, nodes see ordinary authorization. Detection after the fact cannot restore ownership. Shell Chain changes the verifier itself with protocol-native PQ signatures.

A quantum signature attack is not a 51% attack. It doesn't need majority hashpower or stake to spend from one exposed account; it needs forged authorization the network accepts. Shell Chain uses post-quantum validation at the protocol boundary where authority is decided.

A failed WebSocket subscription handshake shouldn't consume capacity forever. Shell Chain now guards each reserved slot and releases it on malformed parameters, unsupported types or failed acceptance. Resource limits work only when every exit path cleans up.

Perfect nonce generation cannot make ECDSA quantum-safe. Reused nonces are a classical implementation failure; Shor attacks the discrete-log structure even when every nonce is flawless. Shell Chain changes the signature family with protocol-native post-quantum validation.

Wallet RPC math needs two rules: balances may exceed normal integer precision, while nonces must stay safely representable. Crystal Wallet keeps Shell balances as exact big integers, rejects oversized nonces and refuses malformed hex quantities. Precision is product safety.
