Attention! In view of the FIFA World Cup Final taking place this Sunday, and recognizing that football is a passion shared by Nigerians across political affiliations, ethnicities, and religious backgrounds, this event has been rescheduled to Monday, 20th July. All other details remain unchanged. Cc: @OKMOVEMENTHQ
Join the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, @KwankwasoRM, this Sunday at 9:30 PM for an X Space hosted by @OKMOVEMENTHQ. Be part of the conversation as he shares his vision for Nigeria and speaks on the importance of peaceful coexistence, civility, and constructive
Happy birthday PO. Nigeria will be OK. Amen!
At 65, the Rock stands taller. Not merely by age, but by courage. Not by power, but by principle. Okwute is not just a name- it is a symbol. A rock that refuses to bow, a rock strong enough to pull down the structures of criminality, corruption, and hopelessness. While
To tell you how lawless this country can become whenever the powerful are involved, remember that it was this same Nigeria where the Court of Appeal sacked MC Oluomo as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), yet he refused to vacate that office for a whole two years. For two years, MC Oluomo flagrantly disregarded a valid judgment of the Court of Appeal. Yet, no security agency made any serious effort to enforce the judgment. Not even the Presidency deemed it necessary to advise him to respect the rule of law. That is the reality before us. So, anyone waiting for the Presidency to take decisive action on the issues involving either Femi Gbajabiamila or David Umahi may simply be wasting precious time. This pattern has always been there for everyone to see. I am Ekene Aninze Esq.
Let's not forget that Zidane, the young man from Southern Kaduna, was arrested by the authorities, and sentenced to death for finding the courage to defend his community against Fulani jihadists. He's still on death row in Kaduna prison. Self defence is not a crime. Zidane should be released immediately.
@HenshawKate Happy birthday Kate Henshaw!! Love you bigly. Keep being your amazing self
@EkeneAninze There is NOTHING new under the sun.
You will think that government witch-hunt of opposition voices started today until you hear the very funny but interesting case of Shugaba Darman. Sometime in January 1980, a man called Alhaji Shugaba Abdurrahaman Darman ran into serious trouble with the administration of Alhaji Shehu Shagari. What exactly did he do? Alhaji Shugaba Abdurrahaman Darman was a highly charismatic politician and the Majority Leader of the Great Nigeria People's Party (GNPP) in the Borno State House of Assembly. At the time, he was known as one of the strongest opposition voices against the administration of President Shehu Shagari of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN). Shugaba Darman was so vocal that his growing political influence across the North-East was seen as a major threat to the federal ruling party. So, what did the government of Shehu Shagari do? Shugaba Darman was framed. His Nigerian passport was seized, and he was suddenly deported across the border to Chad. According to the Federal Government, Shugaba was not a Nigerian at all. They declared him a "prohibited immigrant" and a threat to national security. Imagine that. A man who had risen to become the Majority Leader of a political party in a Nigerian State House of Assembly was suddenly told he was not a Nigerian. While Shugaba Darman remained in exile as a deported refugee, the legendary Chief G.O.K. Ajayi, SAN, went to court on his behalf to challenge the action of the Federal Government. The Federal Government appeared in court and insisted that Shugaba was not a Nigerian citizen because his father was born in Chad. To strengthen that narrative, the government even brought an elderly Chadian woman into court, who broke down in tears and claimed that Shugaba was her long-lost biological son. It sounded like a movie. But Shugaba vehemently denied ever knowing the woman. Instead, he proved that his biological mother was a well-known, nearly blind Nigerian woman living in Maiduguri. Chief G.O.K. Ajayi then advanced a powerful constitutional argument. He argued that under Section 23 of the 1979 Constitution of Nigeria, Shugaba was a citizen of Nigeria by birth because his mother was a Nigerian citizen, irrespective of his father's Chadian origin. He further convinced the court that, as a citizen by birth, Section 38 of the 1979 Constitution (now Section 41 of the 1999 Constitution) expressly guaranteed Shugaba's freedom of movement, meaning he could never be expelled or deported from Nigeria. The legal battle eventually travelled from the High Court to the Supreme Court. When the Supreme Court finally heard the matter, it sided with G.O.K. Ajayi. Justice D. O. Coker, who delivered the lead judgment, made it abundantly clear that under the 1979 Constitution, a Nigerian citizen by birth cannot be deported under any circumstance. The court further held that executive action must always bow to constitutional limitations and that the Minister of Internal Affairs does not possess unfettered discretion over national security where the fundamental liberties guaranteed by the Constitution are involved. In the end, the Supreme Court declared the action of the Federal Government null and void, holding that it was malicious and politically motivated. Shugaba Darman was subsequently awarded ₦350,000 as damages. That landmark decision established the principle that still stands today: no matter the offence allegedly committed by a Nigerian citizen by birth, such a person cannot be deported from Nigeria under any circumstances. To this day, lawyers still cite the case as Abdulrahman Darman v. The Federal Minister of Internal Affairs & Others (1981) 2 NCLR 459. History has a way of reminding us that the struggle between those in power and strong opposition voices is not new. It has simply taken different forms across different generations. I am Ekene Aninze Esq.
The Senate’s decision to dismiss serious allegations of sexual harassment against an ambassadorial nominee is deeply troubling, particularly while the matter remains before a court of law. An ambassador does not merely occupy a ceremonial office; he represents both the President of Nigeria and the nation itself on the international stage. That makes the position one of exceptional sensitivity, requiring the highest standards of scrutiny, judgment, and public confidence. In this instance, the confirmation process appeared rushed and premature. If our executive and legislative institutions fail to conduct the necessary due diligence, a foreign government may be left to do what should have been done at home by questioning or even rejecting the nominee upon arrival.

Today, my heart is filled with gratitude as I join Governor Seyi Makinde, the people of Oyo State, and Nigerians everywhere in welcoming our teachers and children back home from captivity. Their return is a reminder that hope can prevail even in our darkest moments. As we celebrate this joyful news, our thoughts and prayers remain with the families who were not as fortunate. We remember those who lost their lives during this painful ordeal and pray for the peaceful repose of their souls. My deepest condolences go especially to the family of Michael Oyedokun. May God grant you the strength to bear this irreparable loss. I also commend the security agencies, community leaders, volunteers, and everyone whose courage, persistence, and sacrifice made this rescue possible. Your efforts have brought relief to countless families. The journey, however, does not end here. The emotional scars carried by these children, their teachers, and their loved ones will take time to heal. They deserve our compassion, our support, and every resource needed to help them rebuild their lives. Above all, we must remain committed to building a Nigeria where no parent lives in fear of sending a child to school and no community has to endure such pain again. We owe that to every family and to every Nigerian. FD #OTiYa
The Disheartening Humiliation of Prof. Aghaji Every day in this country, we find ourselves in a bizarre situation that we find difficult to understand: where we are and how we got to this uncivilised behaviour and rascality. Worse still, when you try to bring these abnormalities to the attention of those concerned, they resort to abuse instead of appreciation. Just this morning, my attention was drawn to the disrespectful and humiliating circumstances surrounding the apprehension of Professor Martin Aghaji, a distinguished 74-year-old medical expert. This man was not invited, nor was any direct contact made with him. Instead, they invaded his home at Independent Layout, Enugu, in the dead of the night, at 2 a.m., to arrest him in front of his visiting daughter. As an internationally recognised cardiothoracic surgeon, esteemed academic, and elder statesman, Professor Aghaji warrants a considerable degree of respect, both because of his advanced age and his substantial contributions to our nation. More importantly, however, every Nigerian, irrespective of status or profession, deserves to be treated with dignity and in accordance with the rule of law. After the humiliation of breaking into his house and whisking him away from Enugu to Lagos for three days, all he got was, “Sorry, we made a mistake.” The public outcry concerning the state’s handling of Professor Aghaji’s case highlights a wider conflict between the actions of state security agencies and the imperative to safeguard professional integrity and individual dignity. Such conduct directed at a 74-year-old might not only exacerbate the critical “brain drain” but also severely damage the country’s already precarious healthcare infrastructure. This incident brings to mind the similar mistreatment of a medical practitioner in Akwa Ibom, which prompted the Nigeria Medical Association to consider a nationwide strike. Fortunately, due to prompt intervention, a formal public apology was issued to the affected doctor. The practice of treating highly regarded, ethical professionals - and indeed any Nigerian - like common criminals sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the rule of law across all sectors. Therefore, we must conduct ourselves with civility in the discharge of our public duties. A superior and renewed Nigeria is indeed POssible. -PO
Justin Ijeh, the National Media and Publicity Secretary, OK Movement wrote: So… Minister, Senator Engineer David Nweze Umahi, CON you threw an open challenge to the OBidient movement when you said you would debate ‘any of them’. Well…good sir, challenge accepted!! I, Justin Ijeh, citizen of the federal republic, a spokesperson of the movement, promoter and advocate of good governance and a better Nigeria, will debate you. I will defend the track record of HE Mr. Peter Obi which you have attempted to impugn with lies and distortions. I will do this with facts and figures and documented evidence of his performance as governor of Anambara state… And I will take YOU to task on YOUR record in public office, from your time as governor to date….as well as on the record of the administration in which you currently serve as minister, again…with facts, figures and documented evidence of my assertion that it has been a colossal failure, based on standard metrics of measuring success and effectiveness in public administration. There will be no mud slinging, no talking down on anyone…we will focus purely on the ISSUES OF GOVERNANCE - as it should be. Arise News, Vimbai, kindly draw the good ministers attention and let him know that his challenge has been accepted. I will await details of date , place and time. The clock is ticking… Let’s do it.
As gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State @NigeriaNDCHQ, I recently met with members of the NDC State Working Committee @NDC_Lagos, led by our State Chairman. The commitment in the room was clear as we spoke about the vision and the work ahead. I was very encouraged by the unity of purpose and shared resolve. This journey is not about one person. It is about building a movement that gives Lagosians a real chance for a bold new era where government serves and the people come first. FD #OTiYa

@i_am_agbeke @FinPlanKaluAja1 The individuals who have worked hard from little and grown these businesses will be able to start again. However the ones who are handed this plenty “stocked” shops who don’t know the first thing about running a business will run them down. It won’t be long.
I attended the Lagos Indigene Development Initiative’s 2nd Annual Convention, where the role of indigenes in shaping our communities was examined. The importance of recognizing, supporting and promoting our indigenous communities and heritage was central to the discussion. Indigenes are important custodians of the city’s history, culture and identity, and that inheritance must be actively protected, restored, and passed on to the generations who come after us. Alongside that, we also discussed the diversity, inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence for which Lagos has been known for centuries. This is the Lagos our forebears built — a home rooted in indigenous heritage, yet strong and large-hearted enough to welcome others from far and wide without losing its own self. That balance is our strength. -FD #OTiYa
To understand how scandalously corrupt this ruling of 26 June by Isa Dashen of @FederalHigh is, you have to read his original judgment of 10 Dec 2025. On pages 20-21 of that judgment, the judge determined that the Peace Movement Party (PMP) did not arise in the case & was both "belated" & an "impermissible afterthought". On the issue of logo, he held explicitly that the Constitution "does not empower INEC to reject a logo merely because it resembles that of an existing party." 5 months later, the same judge empowered himself to reject a party merely because a person not party to the case alleged that its logo resembled that of a non-existing party. #NoBeJujuBeDat?! #Lifusprudence
Hey everyone, Bayo Onanuga told you the Tinubu government didn't know about that agency. But way back in 2015, they were already using it to funnel money through fake projects, overseas training, and events worldwide. It was a total free-for-all for them. Just imagine something, write a memo, and the money's approved and split among them. This isn't the only agency like this; there are tons more. The Chief of Staff, SGF, CBN, NASS Leadership, and others all have their own agencies that give them monthly kickbacks. This is just the beginning... I hope your notification bell is ON. You've got to help make sure corruption is totally wiped out in Nigeria, and you can do your part by sharing this post so 500k Nigerians see it. Let's go...
