When I today years later asked a similar question to Copilot there was no mention of the tools that show more sustainable travel routes. It was exclusively a list of companies with mammoth-size marketing budgets. Then I asked why it was now basically just ranking ads

I asked Bing's Copilot for a more sustainable flight search engine. After specifying that I wanted real emission cuts instead of carbon offsets the AI tool suggested Google Flights, to identify flights with below average emissions. And PanFlights, which "goes a step further".

@glenngabe That sounds like a reasonable direction to go for Google. It would be nice if review sites without affiliate connections would rank better. That's often where the most useful information lies.

@PRingholm Jeg tror kanskje ikke så mange politikere ønsker å gjøre boligpolitikken mer gründervennlig. Jeg ba ChatGPT vurdere betydningen her og fikk estimert en potensiell forbedringsfaktor på 3-4 ganger med ny politikk på området.

@hridoyreh It is impressive. But it was different then. Word of mouth was the driver for growth. Nowadays such projects may be started, but won't get much visibility. We now depend on algorithms for information. Those rank based on authority, which is similar to brand building strength.

@DebetSjef Det er fordi bolig er et skatteparadis i Norge, sett i forhold til andre investeringer. Skjevheten går ut over vår evne til å skape bedrifter med internasjonal suksess.

@PRingholm Kosovo, Albania og Romania topper statistikken. Stort sett hele Øst-Europa ligger foran Norge. Sveits og Tyskland ligger i motsatt ende ja. Samtidig er Sveits kjent for å ha god økonomi - kanskje fordi forholdene legges godt tilrette for gründerskap? aftenposten.no/meninger/debat…

Det er politikere og mediebedrifter som NRK som har størst mulighet til å påvirke retningen dette går i. Jeg sjekket det estimerte utslippet for to alternative hjemreiser fra Belém til Oslo. Med kun én mellomlanding, i Lisboa, kom det på 631 kg CO2. Om toneangivende politikere derimot reiser samme rute tilbake som de ankom med, via Rio og Paris, er utslippet 81 % høyere. Så enkelt kan det være å kutte. Hadde media omtalt slike ting ville det opplyst reisende og motivert mange til å bli mer bevisst egne reisevalg.

@travelvc @T_Zahil @travelmassive I already did, I'm registered there :) Once I went to Lisbon to present it on the WebSummit. There was an external TravelMassive meetup at the time, I joined and we took a long walk along the promenade. Great initiative!

@alexanderisorax Since b2c only allows few players to grow there is a functional gap. Many see this and come up with solutions but can't grow. One interesting area is reduced emission solutions. There are many easy wins for that, but the entertainment factor is usually low. So it stops.

@Hobo_Web Do these clicks include or exclude searches for the brand name itself? I mean, those visitors would come anyway. I think this matters, because for my flight search site the number of branded searches is 70 times higher than the highest ranking keyword.

@romanyrefaat_ There are many journalists here, and some are looking for new tools to present to their audience. Besides, there is now little innovation in B2C since visibility through word of mouth has gone down. It now depends on marketing. Many here want to see more innovation in B2C.

@Hobo_Web Any chance that there will be an extra E, for "Earth", added? There exist many products and services that are more sustainable than those offered on typical EEAT-optimized sites? An Earth-component could make a big difference, planet-wise.

@BritneyMuller I wonder if any AI-powered "cheap flights from Trondheim to Poznan" responses will help users find a flight to Gdansk, and a train or bus from there. Which is likely cheaper and more sustainable than any indirect flight.

@Charles_SEO Yes, I agree. But it can also be generalized. When backlinks are used as a vital ranking signal, site owners in all fields need to build those links. The competition for visibility becomes link building. It would be better if the competition was about building the best product.
