How are you ‘investing’ in growing the ecosystem when you only grow by expecting chains to pay you to enhance… your service. You come out with CCTP and then expect chains to pay you to grow your own service. That’s not you investing. That’s pay to play grift. Glad there’s competition coming.

Base's post-mortem confirms the uncomfortable part. The sequencer was building a block, hit an invalid transaction, and failed to wipe the leftover memory state it touched. The next valid transaction then ran on top of that dirty state, miscalculated its gas, and produced a block whose math didn't check out. Every other node re-executed the block, got the correct result, saw it didn't match, and rejected it. Exactly what they're supposed to do. BUT Base has a single block producer - so all the honest nodes agreeing to reject the bad block didn't route around the fault, it was the fault. nobody else exists to build a good block. On a chain with many producers, rejecting one bad block is a non-event, the next one just builds it. on Base it's a two-hour outage. same correct behavior, opposite outcome, because everything hangs off one machine.

On June 25 and 26, Base mainnet experienced two block production outages, both caused by the same underlying bug in the block builder logic. We’ve identified and fixed the root cause, and have communicated the post mortem to OP chains as feedback. All funds were safe

I've never understood why after all these years, and all the things that were drilled into all our heads about what 'mattered'... no one seems to actually care. I have no idea why anyone would use this garbage of a centralized chain. Algorand does so much so damn well - and if you reply 'but price... har har' you're literally the problem (and are one of the ones who don't care about what matters.. so toss off 😘 )

Base was down for almost two hours today, and the reason is the whole story: one bad block, and nobody else to keep the chain alive. A single consensus bug sequenced one invalid block, right after block 47806542, and every block after it just stopped. Base runs a single

Saying algorand's mempool is non-discrete is a pretty gibberish thing to say here. ... and base can never have congestion !? AI feed that all to you?? If you're in the mempool you're queued for the next block you'll fit in. You don't get 'outbid' - you're going in. This isn't Ethereum, where a transaction can sit in the mempool for blocks on end getting outbid, front-run, or just ignored. The transaction was validated in order to even get in line to begin with. So an asset transfer in the mempool - they have the funds and it'll be in the next available block w/ guaranteed finality once in a block (ignoring cases where it could get kicked at execution time - but that's a sep issue - it's no longer a valid txn basically) Yet base has *5* documented levels of finality and that's.. better? So, no, your 'flashblock' inclusion as a measure of any certainty is beyond absurd as a comparison. You might want to look into why Optimism has that name.

@ToddAlgo @squidrouter Obviously possible for Algorand to go down... it's a decentralized network. Shit happens - but it's yet to have downtime on mainnet in its history. That's something at least - more that most can say. Base is literally a single sequencer run by... Coinbase. That's it.

'soft finality' fn lol I could then compare to checking the mempool for Algorand - who has *single-block* instant finality - and beat your 200ms but have it actually mean something. You can NEVER hand-wave away finality. Base is HIGHLY centralized garbage built on Optimism w/ 1 week TRUE finality.

Coinbase's revenue is trading fees - something there isn't a lot of right now. They had an NFT marketplace once too... how'd that work out for them? 😀 As for Algorand - I think the vast majority of chains and their foundations/tech teams, etc. are in pretty dire straits these days tbh.

@mercurystriker @AlgoFoundation No, I think its the literal market itself - it's not remotely rational and price action has literally nothing to do with fundamentals. Tokens can surge even while the network is literally down... Make that make sense, because rationally, there'd be an impact.
