For 22 years, their memory has remained with us, and their absence continues to shape our collective pursuit of truth, dignity, and justice. Throughout the week, the Gatumba Refugee Survivor Foundation (GRSF) will host evening Zoom gatherings, providing sacred spaces for survivors to share their testimonies, pastors to lead prayers and offer comfort, and families, friends, and supporters to come together in remembrance and solidarity. REMEMBERING KING MUTARA III RUDAHIGWA (Charles Léon Pierre Rudahigwa) Among the tragic dates that upright Rwandans can never forget is Saturday, July 25, 1959. Shortly after 11:30 a.m., King Mutara III Rudahigwa of Rwanda born in Nyanza in March 1911 died at the Prince Regent Hospital in Bujumbura. He succumbed following a suspicious injection administered by Dr. Vyncke. This political crime for that is what it must be called plunged Rwanda into state-sponsored violence targeting the Tutsi, beginning in November 1959 and culminating in the genocide committed against the Tutsi from April to July 1994. On this 67th memory of King Rudahigwa’s assassination, honoring his memory serves to recall the principles of good governance that guided his reign principles that should inspire all generations of Rwandans, both present and future. During his reign, King Rudahigwa proved himself to be a modernist and a progressive. He is best known for his pivotal role in maintaining Rwandan unity, particularly through the abolition of the *ubuhake* serfdom contract and the *uburetwa* and *shiku* systems of forced labor. However, Rudahigwa also advanced Rwanda’s economic development. A few examples include: - He purchased his own vehicle and did not allow himself to be transported in a traditional hammock. - Rudahigwa established a *Conseil du Mwami* (Council of the King) to assist him in administration. This institution would later become the *Conseil du Pays* (Council of the Country) in 1942, and subsequently the *Conseil Supérieur du Pays* (Superior Council of the Country) a body akin to a modern-day Senate in 1953. - The road network expanded quite rapidly during his reign. At his death, Rwanda had different main roads: Bujumbura-Kigali-Kagitumba, Kigali-Ruhengeri-Gisenyi, Cyangugu-Butare-Nyanza, Cyangugu-Bugarama-Bujumbura, Nyanza-Kibuye-Gisenyi, Byumba-Ruhengeri, Cyangugu-Kibuye-Gisenyi, Gitarama-Ruhengeri, Gitarama-Kibuye and Kigali-Kanzenze-Murehe (Burundi). There were also international routes connecting Rwanda abroad: Kigali-Kampala-Mombasa, Kigali-Bujumbura-Kigoma-Dar-es-Salam. - Rudahigwa developed mining. Before its advent, there was MINETAIN which started in Rutongo in 1930. It was followed by SOMUKI in 1933, GEORWANDA in 1940, COREM in 1946. The main metals exploited were tin, gold, columbo-tantalite, beryl and ambrygonite. The mining industry employed around 15,000 to 16,000 agents. The fatal blow that led to his assassination was his determination to break free by demanding independence, the abolition of ethnic designations on identity cards, universal education, and the establishment of a university in Rwanda just as existed in the Belgian Congo. The colonial establishment could not tolerate a king who demanded independence; consequently, he suffered the same fate as Lumumba in the Belgian Congo and other African leaders who fought for the welfare of their people. It is up to the younger generations to take advantage of the era of freedom Rwanda has finally secured thanks to the RPF-Inkotanyi and to advance the cause of true independence by fighting against imperialism and neo-colonialism while striving for complete self-sufficiency. King Rudahigwa worked toward this goal to the best of his ability, for the sake of his people's unity. We remain deeply grateful to him.

Rwanda's liberation did not end with the end of the genocide against the Tutsi. Since 1994, Rwanda has made remarkable progress in restoring the nation's dignity. Today, Rwanda is widely recognised as one of Africa's cleanest and most orderly countries, with many visitors referring to it as the "Singapore of Africa". The Government of Rwanda has also championed gender equality, and the country now has the highest proportion of women in parliament anywhere in the world. Exactly two weeks after Global Witness published its fabricated "smuggling" report targeting Rwanda, the U.S. Treasury stepped in with raw financial sanctions against #Gasabo_Gold_Refinery. Most NGOs' jobs are to ALWAYS manufacture fake moral cover and public outrage. And now, two weeks later, the U.S. Executive branch uses that exact propaganda to unleash a SWIFT banking ban against an un-kneeling Rwanda. The U.S. Treasury explicitly cites "at least 60 kg of gold" to cripple the refinery. But Gasabo refines 480 kg every 30 hours—nearly 100 tons a year. This 60 kg batch represents less than 0.5% of the facility's annual output. Freezing a massive sovereign asset over a fraction of a single percent proves the volume isn't the problem—the existence of an independent African refinery IS the ACTUAL target. Where is the forensic evidence? Nowhere to be found. Conveniently "classified." Washington uses an administrative, low-bar "reason to believe" standard to completely bypass open courts, acting as judge, jury, and executioner without ever showing its data to the public. Billions in "conflict gold" flow openly through the neighbors such as Uganda, Burundi, and Tanzania every single year with zero penalties. The U.S. stayed completely silent for 20+ years while the genocidal FDLR systematically plundered the Rubaya mines. Sanctions are only weaponized when territorial and economic control shifts away from Washington's puppets 🇨🇩🇧🇮. Even U.S. Senator Jim Risch admitted Kinshasa’s army is aggressively violating ceasefires, yet the banking bans are selectively deployed strictly against Rwanda. This is PURE financial warfare used to enforce a colonial-era processing monopoly.

The Democratic Republic of Congo and its so-called police don’t love their citizens. President Félix Tshisekedi doesn’t even find solutions to things like this! He just likes to destroy.

Zero mention of the increased collaboration between the DRC, Burundi and FDLR. Zero mention of Kinshasa's violations of the ceasefire.
