Though we may try, and try, there are times when we cannot find a way to make the code express our intent; and so we resort, in the end, to a comment. We acknowledge that each comment we write is finally due to our failure to express ourselves in code.
#BudapestMetroM3 translation: "A metró nem áll meg a Ferenciek terénél és az Arany János utcánál" "This metro will not stop at Ferenciek tere or Arany János utca." #BooleanAlgebra reviewed? let's rewrite all the codes of the globe! :D
point to a professional who wants a hammer with screwdriver + pliers + grinding machine + pipe wrench integrated. by now, tools we use for driving a nail are the same we use for screwing a screw.
and reason why we do it, is because these tools try to control everything. they started as a small and useful tool. by now they're trying to automate essence of Agility, the interaction.
i'm getting more and more confident about: JIRA is for ruining benefits of discussion between team and management Git PRs is for ruining benefits of immediate feedbacks it's not essential evilness of these tools but caused by users i mean us.
might be a massive stupidity but i love work in places like this #workinthegreen #dailystatuscall
e.g. a component is a unit in #Angular so you test the view inclusively which slows down running of tests so you just skip writing them in #tdd way. :(
We use the term “unit” test to describe the tests we write while using TDD. But that name is unfortunate because it has no good definition. We don’t know what a unit really is. The tests we write in TDD are written by programmers and for programmers.
Introvert problems: when a meeting has been going for more than an hour, my energy for human interaction is depleted to the point where no matter what the original problem was that we were trying to solve, the problem at that point from my perspective is that we're still talking.
Estimates are mighty. I mean “might”-y Don’t say * “this will be done by x”. No such certainty. * “this should be done by x”: No such ethicality. Try “this might be done by X” which is what an estimate means. There is no will or should, only a might.
chasing dreams of managers about #10xEngineer could turn to be a nighmare for engineers. productivity will never hug you. productivity will never say "love u mom" or "love u dad" or "love u honey" or "meow my human" or "bark my master". 3/
dear engineers all over the world, be human! if you're not #10xEngineer by nature, don't think that you could be 10x more productive without serious impact on your Life and Health (both mental and physical) 2/
what the hell is this #10xEngineer bullshit nowadays??? sounds like a theory with no reality behind. it's just increasing companies' expectations against employees and engineers' expectations against themselves. 1/
didn't feel well in the office. found proper one for intensive brain work. #bestoffice #peaceful #productivity #japanesegarden
few yrs ago i've heard the answer which makes all dev to be happy and positive about future and today i was lucky to hear it again. Q: - what is the name of repo? A: - up to you. no repo created yet. i love #greenfieldproject like you get a whole country to revive
initial issue was that there were no tests written from the beginning and: - customer is loosing trust in product - devs are loosing trust in code no matter which option is the case. it's loose-loose. and it was just a small bad behavior which caused it all. :( 3/3
reactions from devs: - doing something minimal and start speaking up for whole rewrite - overcompensate and put spec files even for empty classes both cases are wrong but don't forget: 2/3
situation: devs ignored writing any test possible outcomes: - customer starts pushing them to improve code quality - they're facing with issue of unmaintainability 1/3
with love to #Angular experts sharing the only way of testing they've learnt (TestBed, ComponentFixture) in memoriam #tdd in memoriam #professionalism 3/3
forget industry-wide term of testability and patterns. use Our Ones and be sure that this is The Only Way How It Could Be Done. 2/3
run your unit tests through UI! run your unit tests on expensive infrastructure provided by The Framework of Us! run your unit tests slowly! ignore wriring component or integration tests, immediately write e2e tests! 1/3
