I am having a drink this evening with a friend in a Chiswick pub. Two policemen have just come into the pub and asked me to step outside. I have stepped outside and they have threatened me because I tweeted about a councillor banning seating outside pubs in Chiswick. They admit on video (watch it!) that I did not break the law at all. They came to threaten me. To warn me off tweeting about councillors and the council. This is modern Britain. This is the police state. Please, please, please watch this video. It does involve me using very bad language, but this has got to be seen. Police coming out to threaten someone who hasn’t committed a crime. I’m fuming.

Sheffield Council says the Union flag is not offensive, so why are they tearing it down? This is not really about lampposts. It is about a political class that appears deeply uncomfortable with British identity. Councils cannot fix the roads, clean the streets, secure communities or deliver basic services properly. But when a Union flag goes up, suddenly the system moves fast. The British flag is not the problem. The problem is a governing class embarrassed by the country it is supposed to serve.

Positive discrimination via DEI hiring may have been a necessary correction for past adverse treatment of various minorities, but it has now got to the point of doing serious harm to society. Whether it is the undermining of our institutions or the destruction of social mobility for white boys, this is now creating a potentially irreversible rift in society. We should replace it with real equality of opportunity for all and throw all these “protected characteristic” biases out the window. That way we can have a real society which in Churchill’s terms allows “no limit to which anyone might climb, but a limit beneath which no one may fall". British families have suffered the biggest fall in wealth in the rich world since the pandemic. The average UK individual’s assets are now worth less than those in Italy and the Netherlands... This is the result of a Net Zero obsession, the highest electricity costs in the world, overregulation and high taxes. An environment under Labour will always reduce the overall wealth of the nation. Wealth must be earned by entrepreneurs risking their savings, careers and years of their lives. You cannot tax a country into prosperity.

And she can complain all she wants about language but she promised 6,500 more teachers funded by the education tax, & there are 1900 fewer.

Just to remind these same folk: You’ve not lifted 1/2m kids out of poverty. You’ve just moved them over a bureaucratic line on a Whitehall spreadsheet. Your ‘workers rights’ are destroying entry-level jobs, hitting young people disproportionately, where unemployment is now over 16%. You have not transformed the NHS. It’s still the same old wheezing leviathan, just with a lot more dosh and still dismal productivity. And you’ve nationalised steel and rail before. It was not the prelude to an economic or industrial miracle. Plus you will now have to include their demands for capital/subsidies among all the other priorities already crowding in on the public purse. Other than that your reminder was useful. Thank you.

First, you can use the tax revenue to cut bills. Second, your balance of payments improves which lowers costs across everything. Third, there are entire sectors supported by the oil and gas industry - chemicals, plastics, even renewables - which is why a Government attacking its own industry is sheer insanity. You talk about the centre ground, which is something you seem to think other people create - rather than accurately diagnosing the country's problems and pushing for the right solutions. Maybe that’s why you pushed Net Zero legislation with no plan and with no forecast on the cost of energy. Growth and cheap reliable energy is our priority.

This isn't true. Ofgem made it clear "This increase is a result of higher wholesale gas prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East". More drilling in the North Sea would be good for our economy, but it would make little difference to prices... 1/2

So things are so bad after fewer than two years of Labour that we now face wartime price controls and rationing?! Policies introduced then when we faced genuine shortages of essentials. Is that where we’re heading again? If so, Labour is heading for the knackers yard, never to return.
