We used to know this. My grandmother tells of her MIL coming to immediately take over the household. All the cooking, cleaning, and caring for the older kids were taken off my grandmother’s plate so she can rest and recover with the baby. I’m not sure when we got it flipped that other people need time with the brand new infant at the expense of the mother who just gave birth to him/her.

This talking point about family members “bonding” with YOUR BABY needs to die. No one and I mean NO ONE has a right to bond with the baby other than the two people that made them. Babies do not care who you are, they want mom and that is it.
