For $0.05 one can do a more complex smart contract call. Then again, for $0.0011 one can do a batch transaction including an atomic consensus submit + crypto transfer transaction (which is close to HIP-991).

I just don’t understand why the introduction of custom fees requires a 500x cost increase for ConsensusSubmitMessage transactions on HIP-991 topics, which kills potential use cases.

Is it so much more computationally expensive for consensus nodes to process custom fees? Or is this more connected to safety considerations?

@danrichmondyt Not all are negative. Some are too focused on the negative things and are pushing for change by loud, public criticism. While change at @HBAR_foundation is needed, people fail to acknowledge the positive things that are happening with the same enthusiasm. @hedera has not changed.
