❤️❤️Philip Levie | Murdered at Sobibor, 11 June 1943 Philip Levie was only 2 years old. Only two years old! Born in 1941 in Groningen, the Netherlands, he never knew life without Nazi occupation. Freedom was something he would never experience. The youngest of the Levie children, Philip wore the yellow star from the age of one. Before he could even form complete sentences, he had already been marked for death. In the spring of 1943, his family was arrested and deported to Kamp Vught. Philip was taken to the children’s barracks, separated from his parents. Too young to understand, he cried for them while his older brother Jacob and sister Sara could only watch him from behind a fence. On 6 June, Philip was carried onto the children’s transport to Westerbork. Two days later, he was deported to Sobibor. FOR THREE ENDLESS DAYS HE ENDURED HUNGER, THIRST, FEAR, AND SUFFOCATING CONDITIONS INSIDE A CROWDED CATTLE CAR. On 11 June 1943, the train arrived. Within hours, Philip was murdered in the gas chambers. He was just 2 years old. That same day, the Nazis also murdered his brother Jacob, 8, and his sister Sara, 6. An entire childhood. An entire family. Stolen. We remember Philip Levie. NEVER FORGET!

This past year, Europe has seen four major heat waves, including the continent’s worst heat wave ever that killed more than 10,000 people. In the United States, three extreme heat waves exposed hundreds of millions of people to dangerous levels of heat. Drought is causing some of the lowest water levels ever seen for reservoirs along the Colorado River, threatening the drinking water of 40 million people. Puerto Ricans are being forced to ration water because of extreme drought. In Europe, some of the continent’s dryest conditions have caused major rivers to run so low that ships are running aground, nuclear power plants are shutting down, and historical artifacts that were previously submerged are being revealed. South Korea is in the midst of a record heat wave — with temperatures reaching 108.5° Fahrenheit, the highest temperature in the country’s history. China, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are all experiencing torrential rain and flooding.
