We almost fully shifted into liquid management: we stopped being a classic VC and focused on the liquid part we had since 2017, including quantitative, and building more into DeFi. So the headline “crypto VCs are moving into AI” is inaccurate. They are moving away from the illusion of early-stage venture... some into AI, some into liquidity, some into both. Capital is a tourist. Belief is a resident. I have zero doubt crypto will serve AI. Not “crypto or AI,” but crypto as the settlement and coordination layer for agent economies. I’m building stuff in AI and DeFi myself, so consider me biased. Paradigm, by the way, is saying the same thing if you read them, not the headlines: Tempo for agentic payments with Stripe, EVMbench with OpenAI. This is not diversification away from crypto. It is a bet that the frontiers have collided.

Bad news: Most Chinese AI labs will soon pivot to closed-source. These companies will face pressure they simply cannot resist. Now is the time to build true open-source AI from the scratch. It's time to reclaim our sovereignty.
@bridgemindai What's interesting is Luna, surprisingly reliable for the lowest-tier model. Haven't compared side-by-side with Haiku yet but so far it's been getting a lot of work done and has been competent enough.
@scottmelker Circle can now (or soon) custody and manage the USDC reserves itself through a federally chartered national trust bank instead of relying only on commercial banks.
@scaling01 only xAI, Google, and Meta can afford to do price wars. however, OpenAI and Anthropic still seem to own the strongest frontier models.
