I’m stunned at how many people complain about the correct use of VAR. stumping on opponent’s foot is a foul. Egypt gained possession that lead to the goal after that foul. This was a good use of VAR.

Football… bloody hell Argentina has quality. They have plenty of it, specially on the bench. That is what won the game at the end. What a game of football that was.

USMNT is a young and very well drilled team that played very exciting football in this World Cup. It’s a shame it got tangled in unnecessary off the pitch drama, created by politicians who have no business getting involved in sport.

And it really doesn’t matter if the red card was undeserving or not. Or if it would be good in future to have some other system, rules or appeal system. Or if other sports this or that. Etc. People arguing that completely miss the point.

No! Stop it with this madness. Both these challenges were reckless and endangered the opponent. Both correct red cards, punished by at least one game ban, any day. If you don’t like it, maybe go play/watch a different game.

🚨⚠️ OFFICIAL: Belgian Federation statement on Folarin Balogun red card case, saying they are “astonished”. “The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is astonished by FIFA's decision to declare suspended United States player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, 6 July at 5:00 p.m. (Seattle time). FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction. However, Article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team's next match, as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup. @vediense yes, and for something like "hand of god goal" 😉. OK, I concede. But I would put a 90sec countdown. If VAR cannot overturn ruling on the field in 90sec, the ruling on the field stands.

Everyone likes to complain about VAR and offside. Office is the most well defined and objective rule in this soccer. If it can be accurately measured it can be accurately and objectively enforced. VAR allows that. Everything else in football is blurred and open to interpretation. VAR makes that worse. It amplifies errors. It brings more inconsistency and subjectivity. Keep VAR for offside and get rid of it for everything else.

@vediense Why doesn’t it do it in EPL then? The rule is not clear. The VAR makes the application more random because of “clear and obvious error” phrase.

I think Germany was robbed. The goal that was incorrectly disallowed. But what the hell has happened to die mannschaft? They used to be elite in every position with an elite bench. What is this? Where are all the talents? Where is the Germany that scored 7 against Brazil?
