People misinterpreted what Lars said. The Impact Report is a big announcement and it was about Giga TX. Lars is an exceptional engineer, what excites him might not compute with most people. If you dig into the nuggets, you can see the efficiency and savings for Tesla, which makes Tesla more competitive which translates to more profitabilty. Lars doesn't introduce new products, that is the job for Elon and Franz. Lars is the man behind the scene that makes Tesla run smoothly with constant manufacturing improvements. People set themselves up with unrealistic expectations, "hoping" for something else. Imagine Tesla CFO saying there is a huge announcement...guess what, maybe he has a new accounting software he is excited about, but people think he will announce a merger or stock buy back. Remember, each individual of the Tesla team serves a function and will not cross or step over someone else's role.
