He clearly thinks that for greatness, he needs to physically expand America. It’s stupid. It’s dangerous. And, depending on how he tries to do it, almost certainly immoral.

Well, well, well.  At last DOJ files its FIRST pleading in the collusive case of the Trump slush fund and tax fraud amnesty.  And wow, their position aligns exactly with the Trump lawyers’. Odd way to show it’s not collusive.

I’ve argued repeatedly that the real divide in this country isn’t between Democrat or Republican, black or white, young or old, gay or straight, or Red’s or Alston’s . . . it’s between the rich and the rest. And credit to the rich for using their wealth effectively to pump out propaganda to manipulate the gullible rest to believe that their beef isn’t with the rich, it’s with “them” (defined as a category of your choice that’s not like you who you blame for your lot in life . . . but for “them” you’d be a member at Mar-a-Lago with a private jet, a moderate cocaine habit, and a trophy spouse). We’ve discussed before the ever growing share of the nation’s wealth that’s concentrated in the hands of the few at the top and the dwindling pot that’s shared by the rest. So, here’s another data point. In 1947, when the Bureau of Labor Statistics started compiling data, 65% of the value of America’s economic output went to those performing the labor to produce it and 35% went to the owners and shareholders. Those percentages stayed relatively constant until early in this decade when labor’s share started to decline and capital’s share started to grow. Today, 53% of the value of economic output goes to labor and 47% goes to capital. The rich have effectively persuaded the rest that it’s their patriotic or religious duty to screw themselves. You see that in the decline in union membership, particularly here in the south. The rich sold the rest on the deceptively named “right to work” initiative — which is really the “right to get fu*ked” — resulting in a decline in unionization and a corresponding decline in wages and benefits. Trump hoodwinked many working class Americans to believe that he was their champion, but it’s abundantly clear that he’s looked out for the rich like himself at the expense of the rest. The rich got a tax cut and millions of working class Americans got a Medicaid cut. The rich jet around and mingle in gold plated opulence and the rest deploy for 9 months on the USS Abraham Lincoln and live in shit conditions. The rich enrich their children (Forbes reported that as a 19 year old college sophomore, Barron Trump was worth $150,000,000) and the rest struggle to feed, shelter, and clothe their kids. I wish I could say that there’s reason for optimism, but I’d be lying. The rules are made by and for the rich thanks to the ability of the rich to elect the rich to protect the rich. Maybe someday the rest will figure out that the “them” with whom they have a beef are the rich who’ve exploited them, but we’re not there yet. Maybe someday we’ll embrace true democracy where those who make the rules are chosen fairly by the people and based on the merit of their ideas rather preordained by the elites based on wealth and entitlement. I don’t know that I’ll live to see that day, but I’ll continue to root for a revival of true democracy.

Every single part of the story President Trump told today about South Korea's military cost-sharing spending is wrong: - "They essentially weren't paying" for the US troop presence before Trump's first term? Actually the US cost-sharing deals with South Korea have existed since 1991; Trump secured an incremental 8.2% increase, not some transformational boost - Trump got South Korea to agree to "$3 billion" a year and that it would go up every year? No, SK agreed to pay less than $1 billion even with that 8.2% increase, and it was a one-year deal; negotiations on a longer-term arrangement were unresolved when Trump left office - Then the 2020 election was rigged? No - South Korea then called Biden, declared it shouldn't be paying, and Biden "immediately rescinded" the "order" for SK to pay? No, Biden actually secured two new deals with further increases in South Korea's payments: 1) a 2021 deal with a 13.9% SK increase and then 2022-thru-2025 increases tied to SK's defense budget increases; 2) a 2024 deal with an 8.3% increase in 2026 and additional increases tied to South Korean inflation.

Tech titans dig bunkers and warn us the new intelligence they're training could lead to mass joblessness or human extinction, and our Congress debates ballrooms and youth sports.

The reaction to Ossoff reflects not only his evident talent but an absolutely ravenous hunger for someone able and willing to wage a sustained, articulate, no holds barred attack. No one on the national stage wields a sharper blade or uses it more deftly. Ossoff is pitch perfect.
