Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of our dear friend, colleague and @WHO Envoy David Nabarro.
David was a great champion of global health and health equity, and a wise, generous mentor to countless individuals. His work touched and impacted so many lives across the world.
On behalf of WHO, I’m extending our heartfelt condolences to David’s family, friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace, my dear friend. We will dearly miss your expertise, wisdom and kindness.
A doctor gets raped at her place of work in a Hospital where she was doing a 36 hour duty with injuries reminding people of Nirbhaya.
Has the IMA said anything yet?
I dont notice any tweets from the usual famous doctors with significant following say anything either.
Wow.
@martinmckee@ExplosiveEnema2@AoMRC And makes me increasingly concerned about the decision to set the MLA as a ‘floor’ exam rather than one designed to differentiate between candidates- seems to be the same people/groups supporting both policies
I wrote a little essay about why we consider some batsmen beautiful and others not so much -- and more curiously, why there's so much unanimity on who belongs in which category.

This is a MASSIVE undertaking.
So how is the GMC going to go about this?
Listening. And a stakeholder group.
Where the intellectual inquiry? You know, the 100 page document that should precede such an undertaking?
Please God someone reads the Tooke report!

@dr_shai I’ll always remember him because it was one of those times where someone had to start at the beginning and think again. Def dredged something up from my med school days - I had a pretty traditional clinical/ scientific training and am always grateful for it
@dr_shai Dunno about inspired but one of my last Gen Surg on calls before starting ST3 Ortho - referred ‘abdo pain ? cause’ having been seen repeatedly in WIC in preceding month - a v tired young man with muffled HS & weight loss - Tuberculous pericarditis
@WilsonAndrewDr@DrLKVaughan Please please please include sociologists and historians of the NHS on any academic team gathering data to evaluate these plans
@WilsonAndrewDr@DrLKVaughan Oh ABSOLUTELY. It’s the political goals bit that esp concerns me. In a way all of the issues coming to a head right now really relate to regulation and that delicate pact between any relatively scarce, highly trained profession and the govt that funds it
Very good thread from @DrLKVaughan Sadly, I have the distinct feeling I’m going to spend the next 20 years reading essays that start ‘Following the destructive reforms of 2024/25 to UK MedEd …’ I have no faith in the GMC’s plans and find this blog deeply misguided and concerning
Because I am a woman of my word, here is a look at GMC Colin's blog about proposed changes to UG and PG medical training.
It is a tough gig, as it is unhappy reading.

Also- it was a great reminder for me of just how special it is to watch documentaries in the cinema. There are some scenes in this doc that gained a special intensity through being shared with a room full of people. Thoroughly recommend going to see this
