@jennthetutor @elizabethonline I'm a psychometrics nerd so would love to see the research on that. Where can I find it? The only study I'm aware of was from maybe 20+years ago, but I admittedly haven't looked in the last few years for anything new.

@jennthetutor @elizabethonline I don't think the test is any more biased that the education system itself. A statistically biased question does way less damage than a teacher who can't teach or a kid who can't learn because he's struggling at home. The test is such a first world problem, isn't it?
@jennthetutor @elizabethonline Tutors shouldn't need to exist. All of us are filling in gaps that we shouldn't have to. How Elizabeth thinks - and I do , too - is that knowing your facts is the right approach to the test. It's not a game. It's knowing it cold. I hate having students like I did this week..

You're totally right about access, and there's about a million reasons kids don't have what they need, some that are school-related, some not.

3) I happened to be with a group of sophomores, and there were clear divisions in how seriously students worked. The intense ones could have used a little reminder to relax, and the napping ones could have worked a little harder :)
Had the opportunity to help proctor the #PSAT yesterday. A few observations... 2) Situational things have a huge impact. Some students had full sun in their faces for a part of the test. Not anyone's fault, and we figured it out for the majority of the test, but it matters.
