My wife and I used to look forward to the upcoming marvel movies. It would indeed be entirely symbolic. While it's certainly technically possible, human skin would make for pretty terrible leather compared to their other options. The dermis (the middle layer) of cattle is particularly denser and thicker, which is why we use it. Even horse skins would be better. The scythians, being nomadic pastorialists, had far better and far more plentiful options for skins before using humans.
