Had a great time at the Sigma Convention in San Antonio. Much interest, even amazement that our simulation approach (72-hour continuous simulated patient care unit/hospital) is even possible. Comments from hospital educators and nursing faculty that our approach is much needed.

@DGlaucomflecken As a nurse educator and wife of a pilot, I've often thought nursing students and nurses should keep a log book as pilots do (no identifying pt info). How awesome it would be to look back over a career.

Complexity. 72-hour integrated ED/Med-Surg sim: 160 page scenario script; 16 patient scenarios running continuously at one time all 72 hours (8 in ED and 8 in Med-Surg). Life threatening issues; stroke, MI, fentanyl OD; transfers, handoffs, teamwork. All in a days work @ SCHOLAR.

@TrumanState Truman invited SCHOLAR to design and execute this integrated sim. We designed a simulated Emergency Dept and Med-Surg unit and students got experience in both. We had a great time providing a truly unique 2-in-1 simulation.

When do nursing students get to discuss their patients’ care with an actual provider without a nurse safety net to assure that accurate/relevant information is relayed? In our integrated simulations they do.
